Hi,

I have a 2006 specialized sirrus standard. The original pedals are on their last legs so I got a pair of Shinamo clipeless to replace them. The problem is I can't seem to remove the original pedals. I have tried to loosen what appears to be the nut between the pedal and the crankshaft. Looking at it further it seems the crank shaft and the pedal might be welded together? Has anyone managed to remove the pedals from a standard specialized sirrus? If so how exactly do you do it?

The axle of the pedal screws into the crank but the non-drive side is revrese threaded to prevent coming undoe under normal pedalling.The drive side unscrews anticlockwise but the non-driveside unscrews clockwise.
You need a fairly long wrench, some penetrating fluid (plusgas, wd40 etc) and a bit of gentle foot power.

Hey thanks alot for this. Tried it and it worked great. Now to get used to getting in and out of these pedals...
