Well, I DID IT.....

I did my first 100 mile ride in New England. I say where because there are many towns with little to medium size hills throughout the ride. Hard to find long streaches along the coast without hitting them. I even hit a bad section or road where one bump broki the reflector on the seat post.

So, I covered 15 towns on the ride. I went through 3 power bars, 2 packs of 1/4 cup raisans and a pack of gu. I had 4 water stops and one stop to tighten a water chage that came lose on the ride.

I had a strong finish with an I can;t believe I just did this. I had a personal goal to do a century by the end of the month. This is only my second month riding in 13 years.

Ok, here are the stats
5:16 minutes in motion
18.8 avg MPH.

I don't think that this is too bad because I had a lot of hills in the ride. Some times I was only going 8mph on the last half of the climb.

Well, that's my goal and I hit it large.....Bike on.........

You never know what your ceiling is until you go way past it, only to find it was made of "glass." ;)

Well - I have to say that you did a good ride BUT ---- I fear there is something wrong with your arithmetic. 100 miles at 20mph -- called "Evens" in UK Time Trialling - takes 5 hours. (Other distances 25 (1.15.00) 50 (2.30.00))

So there MUST be something wrong somewhere. 100 miles in the time you recorded works out to 18.98mph -- or the time was greater than you showed

Keep trying -- it get even better the harder you try

Congrats on your ride! You should consider doing the PanMass Challenge next summer. Its a great ride from Sturbridge Ma to P-Town - 192 miles over two days. Dont let the mileage intimidate you - check it out at www.pmc.org. There are other routes too, and you can do a one or two day ride.

I live in Boston and just did this years PanMass this past weekend. It is the coolest thing ever and its not a race - its a ride and there are water/food stops every 20 miles.

Bravo on your first century - next year - you can do it and raise money for the Jimmy Fund (98% of $$ collected goes to the charity)

Congrats...:) What an inspiration because I'm doing my first Century this Sunday. Pretty flat course the first 63 miles but extreme hills over the last 37. That part has me worried. But my goal is to do it in 8 hours. Your time was awesome especially for only riding a couple of months. Way to go !!!!!!!!!
