I know, I committed two sins: suicide hub and a cheap cog.

With my rough and ready mechanical knowledge, I never believed that the small difference in thread width would have made any significant difference. I realize I may be fishing for a rationalization, but has it ever occured to anyone that maybe cheap hubs with a softer alloy of aluminum may also be a culprit? I had just built this thing up and had maybe turned the pedals under power for a total of 50 strokes. And had not put any serious power into it at all.

By the way, what will it cost to have a mechanic lace a new (cheapish, but maybe not so cheap) hub into this wheel?

Ugh.

Bummer, around 50 bucks in my neighborhood, why not do it yourself? A perfect opportunity to learn.
