18- my bike, did I hurt my bike.

My last thoughts were of my bike, not the gash in my leg when my shin caught the chainring on the way down and into the road. Even after I got home, I looked over my bike real good for any scratches or bent parts (I scuffed the left shifter and peddle). That was it! Didn't even tare the tape. My bike is fine. So as far as I am concerned, it never happened.
(This did happen on 04/29. I was only a mile from home after about a 1 hour ride. The ride was great!)

My point? My right leg is sore as heck and my arm is all scraped up but when I found out my bike was ok, I was fine with the whole event.
Is this normal to worry about the bike so much? True love?
Anyone else ever notice worrying about your bike more than yourself after a crash?

This is perfectly normal -- as long as the bike's okay and you'll heal, then it's all good!

I went down yeaterday on a patch of sand. Tore my bar tape to hell. I would have rather gotten some scrapes than hurt the bike. I'll heal, the bike won't.

Yep, I agree with everyone here. Cuts, bruises, and even broken bones heal, but there's nothing you can do for a broken frame. Thank your lucky stars, that your bike didn't suffer much damage!!!!

When I was hit by a car last September, even though I had a finger broken in 2 places, a broken rib and blood gushing out of me, I was more concerned with my bike. One of the first things I did was to get my bike to the side of the road and check it over to see how badly it was hurt.

If I crash - the first thing I want to know is if my bike's OK.

If someone I'm riding with crashes - the first thing I want to know is if they're OK.

"Cuts close, wounds heal, and chicks dig scars"' The Simpsons. (said by the Evil Kneivel type character, whose name I obviously can't remember).

It's so amazing that the bike is the first thing we check after an accident. When I bite it mountain biking, I mmediately check my ride. After all is ok, then the pain seems to set in :-)
