Here's a busted axle locknut off of a Formula rear hub. I hear breakage like this is common on these hubs. Where can I get an exact replacement? Most standard serrated axle locknuts I've seen are slightly smaller on outside diameter and therefore may not bite against the trackends as well as these guys.

Thanks Boston...I was aware of most of those threads and even others relating to this breakage but I was specifically looking for an exact replacement, something at least this size (diameter wise), or something even beefier......if there is such a thing.

Just skimming those threads it seems the consensus is that it is an obscure but available part (does that make any sense?), but most bike shops should have a replacement. Some people say that their replacement was beefier than the stock piece, so there must be different replacement types out there.

www.aebike.com and www.loosescrews.com both have good prices and a good selection of little parts if you find the model # or measurements of your part.

I'm sorry that I can't give you an exact link to where you can buy the part online.

you want 10mm diameter, 1mm thread pitch. pretty standard for a track axle. i wouldn't recommend an identical replacement if you can avoid it, you'll just snap that one too.

Yeah you're right. In fact, I was just looking at my Campy track hubs and they use standard serrated locknuts like ones shown in loose screws. I'll just go to my LBS and see what they have.....:)

I had no problem replacing a broken one on my Formula with a different one of a different shape but the same pitch.
