Texas - Anyone in Dallas have a set of headset tools?

I'm in need of some headset work on my Gazelle and really can't afford to pay Richardson Bikemart to do the work. Additionally I'd feel bad buying the headset elsewhere and then asking them to install it. I know they're going to have a considerably higher price on the unit I want. In any case, looking for (threaded) headset removal and installation tools. I'll gladly do the work at your place if you'd rather me not leave with them and bring a 6pack of your favorite beer for your help. :)

Cuda -- Which headset are you looking at? In most cases if you talk to the right people at RBM, when you purchase the parts from them, they will install it for free. My track bike is at the Frisco location right now getting a new fork and headset installed (for free) that I purchased through them. Use your PBA dicount for the parts and in most cases the price isn't too bad. I rarely buy anything from the Richardson location so I am not sure how things work there.

I'm planning on putting in a Campagnolo Record. I'll get over by RBM to check their price on the headset this week. I can get it from ProBikeKit for $53. Seems that MSRP is closer to $80-$90.

Yeah, PBK must love me. I've bought Centuar group last month, and so far this month a set of pedals and a pair of tires.

If I had the bike building experience that you have I would probably buy more stuff from PBK. I've never built an entire geared bike (I've built up several track bikes) from the ground up. I can replace my own chain, cassettes, chainrings and a few other minor things but I rely on the LBS to do my major upgrades/changes. I'm switching to SRAM Force on my Scott in March and will probably buy everything through RBM just so I can get everything installed. One of these days I'm going to build an entire bike on my own.

Kevin, if you decide to source the SRAM group elsewhere and want a hand learning to do the job yourself, give me a call. I'll be happy to spend an afternoon helpin out. Honestly, with the right tools, a group change all comes down to a bit of patience when cutting cables and housings. The only thing that I usually let RBM handle now is headsets and the cutting of my carbon fork (which I will likely have done one more time later this year). Even getting the derailleurs adjusted wasn't difficult. I probably need to dial in my front derailleur on the Flyte a bit more as I dropped the chain last time out, but even that shouldn't be too difficult to get set.

Cool! I may take you up on that offer. I won't be changing out everything...just the shifters, FD, and RD. I may go ahead and do brake calipers as well but I don't know yet. The stuff that I am taking off of my Scott is all Ultegra and in great shape so I may purchase an inexpensive frameset just so I can build it up on my own (or with your assistance;) )

Went by RBM tonight to get a quote on the Record headset + install. The headset was ~$105 + $30 to install it. I love supporting the shop when I can (nearly bought a couple of their clearance stems and such), but thats a huge price difference.
