Alright, after the holiday season was over, and slapping some big slicks on my old xc bike and fooling around downtown, I'm going to build up another BMX bike (only one bike with me where I am now).

24 or a 26 cruiser if I can find a decent deal(I've seen volume sledge's and dk general 24's out there for decent)

Any experience with particular frames/builds?
I'm liking the looks of FMF's 24" chromoly and the PC 24" 6061 (eww aluminum) 24" at danscomp...then again, I'm also thinking of just spending minimal cash and pieceing something together...


okay so really I'm just using all of this as an excuse to try and put this wheelset on the bike below onto something that'll get more heavy use. (red 26 rhynoliteXL's on red paul's, twisted spoke)

Honestly, if it was me making the desision I would choose the sledgehammer.

But 26" aswell as 24" lick moose balls for tricks, but by the sound of things you just want it for cruising and curbhopping.

Yeah, I rediscovered how good it felt to take weird-ass lines across areas of high traffic. I'm leaning towards just plopping down the 260 for a dk 24 general, as i think about it...I'm not that far from albes at all, but you're right, that volume sledge looks ****ing rad for maybe another month of saving up...

I would go with the Sledgehammer. It looks hella tight, it weighs a couple pounds more though. Are you going to race, because those are mostly for racing. Also i would look at Felt, FMF, Haro and Redline if your looking for a good 24 inch.

For around town riding I bought a Haro x24 Backtrail. It is my first BMX type bike. Also for the rougher stuff like riding trails along the railroad tracks I have a Specialized P.1 cro-mo with the 24" rear tire. Together they make any part of town accessible in a city made just for cars.

I had (still have, but in pieces) a DK fury 24", it has an aluminum frame, weighs about 25lb and it's meant for racing or dirt, but it was fun to ride a little street with, or for getting around... just don't expect tricks to be easy on a big bike.

If they were easy, they wouldn't be tricks, would they? ;)
And if I wanted to do tricks, I certainly wouldn't ask about it here, I'd just go learn from experience. (I don't need to hear a bunch of teenagers telling me to do various ridiculous things trying to bunnyhop :D )

If I could just find the sledge frame it'd be an easy decision, but I had forgotten about the specialized p.cromo...might be ebay time for me.
