Advocacy & Safety - Pet trainer

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just bought a high decibel pet trainer, which emits a silent (to humans) alarm that only animals can hear. It hurts their ears, but does no permanent damage. I have four dogs, and when I'm sitting in my sun room and they are on the attached deck, if they start barking at something I give them a 2 second zap, yell NO! and they all shut up instantly. They kind of cock their heads in a quizical way, as if to say "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" This little device only cost me $20, and works off of two double A batteries. It works on my cats too. When they jump on the kitchen table, I zap them and they get off immediately. After a few zaps, they hardly ever try to get onto the table.

Please give us a name or a link.
Thanks.
Just curious, but is this something that you could ride with to deter a charging dog?

The pet trainer is available for $20 plus s&h from Mr. Leonard's, a catalogue direct mail house. I don't have a web site, but their number is 800-455-1918. The device is small and lightweight, and can be used to deter charging dogs while you're on a bike. They will send you a free catalog. Alot of interesting stuff.

Might even be something one could acquire at the local petsmart/petco?
take care,
