Hi, not sure if anyone can help but I've recently started getting into a bit of mountain biking (I've been out about four times total) and was wondering if anybody knew of anything decent near London?

Obviously trains are probably necessary, and nothing too technical, just something away from all the traffic and danger that I ride through every day...

any help would be appreciated..

thanks ;)

alternatively if anybody knows of any decent clubs in south london then that would also be good....

I'm from the outskirts of South London (orpington) I could give you a few tips on areas i use but it would help if you told me the town you lived in so i could get a better idea how close you are.
(london is pretty big you know)

Holmbury St Mary and Leith Hill on the North Downs are a hotspot. Head to Dorking station.
Head west from Eastbourne along the South Downs for some good riding.
