What is the Reynolds equivalent of Columbus Thron tubing? Is Thron similar to, say, 853?
Thanks.

Based upon the following description, Thron is not the equal to 853:
"Thron - Thron Tube Sets have lightness, rigidity, and a very good price / performance ratio. This double butted tube set can be lugged or fillet brazed. Its double butted wall thickness allow it to be an excellent entry level choice for both road and track. Very large selection of round tubes with different wall thickness and shapes allow the rider to build a stiff frame at an affordable price."
It sounds like it's probably closer to 631, not that that's a bad thing at all! I ride an old Columbus Cromor frame (lower than the old SL in the Columbus line) and love it.
Anecdotal evidence suggests Thron was aimed at the same market as 531.
Thanks for the replies. I'm more familiar with Reynolds tubing, but I was looking at a bike made from Columbus Thron and didn't know how it compared.

Thorn is an oversized tubeset. Most 531 tubesets were standard sized.

As long as we're comparing different steels, I have another question: which Reynolds tubing is equivalent to Tange Prestige?

725 has similar mechanical and chemical properties to Prestige. Gauge thickness may be different though depending what exact tubes you are comparing to.

Throns' slightly below 531. Average 56cm Thron frame weight: 2,067g, compared to 531: 1,875g.
But the 56 Thron frame is 30% stiffer than the 531 Reynolds. The relation stiffness to weight is better. ;-)

I presume thats because of the thicker gauge. Never ridden a Thron frame but have used it's close relative Columbus Cromor -- heavier than 531, but yeah noticeably stiffer in the BB and chainstays.
