I don't post here 'cause I'm not,but I visit now and then. I thought this was pretty cool.
Interesting article. From it, I had a look at Hour Car in Minneapolis, which had a very impressive web site. I hope this concept really takes off.

It is a great concept and works very well from what little I know. My son is a senior at UNC and uses ZipCar. He loves it. He only needs a car once or twice a month, rest of the time he uses public transit or a bike. My daughter would benefit from it, however the college she goes to is out in the boonies in a small town:rolleyes: so she has a car. I live in a small town so it doesn't exist. I do forsee the possibility of a car co-op in the future tho.;)

Because it incorporates significant changes to driving cost calculations -- most notably the averaging of costs for multiples top-selling vehicles in each size/type category -- this edition of Your Driving Costs is not comparable to previous editions. The changes in methodolgy are designed to provide more accurate driving costs and better reflect current consumer vehicle purchasing habits.

Thanks Roody. This chart will be handy for curious car people who visit the forum if they can just interpolate it into their own situation.

One point of the chart is that per mile, it's cheaper to drive a lot than a little. So some of you carlite people--who own a car but don't drive much--might want to make the plunge....
