Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - cheaper BB for record crankset

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. (In my search of a new crankset)
What are the cheap Campy BBs that can be used with their record pista crankset (111mm) ?
TrackstarNY sells the Centaur and the AC-S with it.
Both are 111 mm and square taper. In these conditions, any other 111mm (like the chorus) should be fine ? Right ? How to decide ? Can I pick-up the first cheap 111mm BB that I find or is there something else I should know ?
How does it affect the chainline ? How many mm ?
Thank you.

You'll need a campagnolo-specific taper axle. Most cheap BBs will not be campagnolo-taper, which could damage your cranks over time. If you don't want to spring for a Campy BB, I'm pretty sure the Miche track BB has the proper taper - it's cheap, reliable and adjustable.

I'm using AC-S/Mirage/Veloce (they all look identical) bb's on both my older 151 and recent 144 Pista cranksets. These bb's are dirt cheap now. I picked up a spare one just recently for $12 from Cambria Bikes.

Yes, sorry, I meant "the first Campy 111mm that I can find".

No chainline issue at all ?

Most chorus and record BB will be 102mm, which is the standard that they use for the road, double cranks. I have only ever seen the 111mm for campy's triple cranksets (and apparently record track cranks).

FYI, stay away from the "Token" brand campy BBs you'll find online and on Ebay. They are poorly made and the spindles regularly snap in a dangerous way.

the non-pista 111mm campy BB's are meant for triples and have an assymmetrical axle.
the campy pista takes a 111mm *symmertrical* spindle. your chainline will probably be off if you use the chorus/acs etc bb

I was having this same quandry with my '06 Record cranks. The assymetrical axle COULD be a problem, and I considered the Miche as well, but after seeing how many of those just freeze up over time (they're pretty crappy), finally coughed up $ for the new Record BB. Hey, there are some older, loose-ball, Campy Pista 109 BBs on eBay right now - they'll undoubtedly be cheaper and those are better anyway!

Dont know if anyone has said this...but go with the Centaur 111 for triples. Works great. I have been riding one for about three years. Chain-line is spot on w/ Phil and Phil. Also...if you would like a pic, I can provide. Talk to John at Business Cycles...he will set you straight if you dont believe.

No chainline issue at all ?These bb's give me 42mm chainlines with Pista cranks.

Chainstay/crankarm clearance look pretty even on both sides. These 111mm Veloce/Mirage/Centaur bb's with outer flanges on both sides all look identical to me.

Thank you all,
Concerning the Record Track BB, Lickbike.com writes :
" Excellent cartridge bottom bracket that will fit your Campagnolo Track cranks or as an upgrade for your Daytona/Centaur cranks. ....... Note this will not work on Record triple crank (requires 111mm asymmetric) "
So I guess, The Record Track and the Centaur/Daytona are not identical, but not so different.
Thanks.
