Can anyone provide insight into Miyata 1000? Is it signficantly different from the other Miyata tourers (600 and 200 series, I think)? I've got a 210 and keep hearing that the 1000 is the "best off the rack tourer available at the time." Opinions on whether this is accurate? Are there geometric differences between them (chainstay length, etc.)? Thanks in advance.

edit: i've seen the Miyata catalogs and can't find measurement differences there.

The 2oo , 600 and 1000 series were Miyata's entry level, mid-range and top end, garnd touring models respectively, As you went up the line, generally you got better components, better frame material and more amenities. Some years, each series had different geometry, but in other cases they were shared. You really have to treat each year on a case by case basis to determine the relative differences. Arguably, the various 1000 models were the finest, mass-produced, grand-touring models of their era.

Agreed. Simply the finest touring machine of its day. Period.
