Mountain Biking - FSR Seat Post Binder w/ water bottle boss

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Kind of a rant but VERY mild by my standards.
As many of you know Specialized FSR's used to come with a seat post binder that had a water bottle boss molded into it. As you may also know that current FSR's (more specifically my '03 Rockhopper) still have a boss on the the seat pod.
Is there a particular reason they stopped producing the binders with the boss?
I can't understand why they'd leave the boss on the seat post pod tube (it's not like they'd have to retool to make a blank tube instead) and not provide the matching binder.
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one of these apparently rare clamps? I'd really like to be able to use this position (for maybe a light battery)as the location under the down-tube just sucks. This isn't a huge deal for me but any help would be appreciated.

Man, I had a spare, and put it on a neighbor's bike that he sold. Dern. Could've helped you out. Didn't know they were such a rare commodity. Have you tried asking Specialized?

Not yet. I just wanted to see what folks here had to say first before dealing with some phone jockey at Specialized who may or may not have half a clue.

My FSR was '98 vintage and that binder was a stock item. There is a shop down this way that I know has a '99 FSR in stock. They may have a spare binder. If I remember tomorrow, I'll call them for ya.

Raiyn, Must be nice to still have a team to cheer for, What am I talking about, we just Beat Sweeden, 3-1... Which proves, the Leafs Gotta dump Renberg and Hogeland!!
:D

Considering this is the farthest they've ever made it, I'm absolutely LOVING this. It's kind of fun to watch the front-runner's trying to talk like they know all there is to know about the Lightning. They know ALL about Martin St Louis but if you ask them about Jassen Cullimore they give you this blank look. I'm proud to say that I've been behind the Lightning since my girlfriend brought me to my first game four years ago. I've seen flashes of brilliance and a LOT of crap but I NEVER faltered in my belief that they could be great, and now I'm being rewarded.
I was really hoping to see the Leafs advance over the Flyers (read: Cryers) I would have enjoyed a Sens vs Leafs round 2. Owen Nolan was kind of a dissapointment but then again he hadn't had a lot of time to mesh into the chemistry of the team, being injured in the trade and all. Hogeland and Renberg are decent role players not stars by any means. (If I remember correctly we got Freddie Modin in exchange for Renberg) They've proved to be reliable if not supremely productive.

Let's see how it all shakes out. Personally I want a Wild vs Lightning Cup Finals. :D

It's my thread. So it's not a problem.

Hmmm, I don't know about the Wild in the finals, but it is your thread. I found one of those clamps yesterday at our shop. Lemme know if you want me to grab it for you.

Let's see what A2 comes up with first. He's closer to me. I'd consider it a favor if you hung on to that one for me untill I hear form him.

As for the Wild - You're just ticked that the 'Hawks traded Amonte and didn't make the playoffs. I know I would be.

I'll set it aside for you. Don't get too much demand for those guys.
Eh, I wouldn't mind seeing the Wild go. Jacques is a great coach. The Hawks have a fine tradition of trading their best player on at least a semi-annual basis, so I'm pretty used to that by now. What really ticks me off is that you still can't watch a home Hawks game on TV as "Dollar" Bill Wirtz blocks 'em. It's not like I'm missing good hockey, though.

He should let me know here soon.

Yeah what was it? Belfour then Roenick, now Amonte? <shakes head and chuckles> Of course it's not like they picked the whole team up and left the way my North Stars, the Winnepeg Jets (Coyotes), Quebec Nordiques (Avalanche), Colorodo Rockies ( NJ Devils) and the Hartford Whalers (Hurricanes) got packed up. There is no such thing as bad hockey. If it is played or watched hockey is a beautiful thing (much like cycling). As for Wirtz at least you still get to see away games (right?) The cable staion that carries the Lightning down here got into a contract dispute with Time Warner cable (they have the monopoly) so the ONLY way to watch a game on the tube was via satelite I'm GLAD that whole thing got worked out. I'd have to kill someone.

So how about it? A2 anybody else got an idea why Specialized made this decision?

[Don't forget some goalie by the name of Dominic Hasek. They said he'd never be any good, but I heard a rumor he ended up being a servicable goalie.
Of course, that wasn't on par with trading Eric Lindros for Peter Forsberg, but the Hawks know how to screw things up. I suppose it's not bad hockey, but sometimes it's painful to watch the Hawks. I just wish the offense consisted of something more than dumping it in and hoping to somehow get the puck on the net. Like you said though, at least I get away games and ESPN games. I wish I could get hockey night in Canada.
Keep me posted on that part if you end up needing it.

Keep me posted on that part if you end up needing it. Hockey Night in Canada now THAT is a Hockey show!. As far as sucky dump and chase offense you didn't have to suffer through Steve Ludzig when he was coaching(?) the Bolts pathetic of course most people here thought Tortarella was going to come in and INSTANTLY change things for the better. Yeah Right! He still had to clean the Ludzig system out to shouts of HEY TORTALLINI PREGO OR RAGU? He's turned out to be an excellent coach especially once he got Lecavalier in line with the system and off his pampered "I'm a Star" high horse and made him work for a living. Just think of how sucky the coverage is down here! I don't even get college games! The only college hockey game I got to see was the NCAA Finals when my Gophers got the title for the second straight year. Now how about the Bears? They gonna suck this year? Personally, I'm a Vikings fan, (Roots run deep.) but I've always loved those Tri-state match-ups Vikes 'n Bears, Bears 'n Packers, Packers and Vikes. :D Almost always classic games, but what do I know.

Hey Raiyn, sorry it took so long. I'm actually on Vacation. No luck on the binder. After much explaining (phone call) as to what I needed. I actually had to tell the guy about his own inventory. (yeah, the blue bike on your floor. The one with FSR written on the side. See the binder? Do you have another like it? No, I don't want the whole bike, just another binder. Thanks)

No problem A2. After I didn't here from you. (You're usually pretty predictable in when you'll be on.) I went ahead and asked Waldo to send the one he had. I do appreciate it though. :D Thanks for trying.

Yeah, it does seem like Florida wouldn't be too up on hockey programing. I missed out on the Frozen Four this year, that was a bummer.
The Bears will not be much better this year, if any. Lousy draft+lousy team=trouble. At least they have a somewhat mobile quarterback to go with the lack of an offensive line. Of course, there is a reason Pitt let him go. I'm just glad the Bears took Cade McKnown over Duante Culpepper. They sure did a good job leaving him for the Vikes. I'm with you that those tri-state games seem to always be good, no matter how lousy the participating teams are.
