Southeast - richmond area MORE?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Nope, too poor right now. But I do frequent the forums at wwwc.cyclincentralva.org/forums and hit the trails when their dry.

I'm in Richmond, but haven't been able to get much riding in recently. I'm also new to Richmond, so I want to know what's up with the biking around here.

I'm a Richmond native. Lee-Davis HS grad! My immediate family is still there, so I visit 3-4 times a year.

Well, there's the Buttermilk/Forest Hill/Northshore loop around the river (about 13 miles), there's Powhite park (across from Chippenham Hospital) with 4-5 miles of trail, there's Poor Farm Park in Ashland, with about 15 miles of trail, there's Pocohantas State Park with about 12 miles of trail, Petersburg National battlefield (never been there, don't know how much trail), and Point of Rocks (Dodd Park) in Hopewell (don't know that one either). Check here (http://cyclingcentralva.org/forums/index.php?showforum=128)for directions.

Thanks Rob. I was mostly wondering if there are any groups that get together. I'd much rather ride with a posse than by my lonesome.

My advice then is to go to www.cyclingcentralva.org/forums, introduce yourself, and say that you would be interested in joining on group rides. The MB community around here is very open and welcoming. They don't care what you ride, as long as you ride. Another good way to meet people to ride with is to do trail work. There is another 2000' of trail being added to Northshore, and building starts this saturday. Meet at 8am at Crossroads Coffee shop (on forest hill ave) if you want to get breakfast before, or meet at the Texas Beach trail head at 9am (with gloves and h2o) to work. There is a trail work forum on the site, and I can almost garuntee that if you start doing trailwork, you will meet people to ride with real quick. Also, I would offer to take you myself, but with the weather and my crazy schedule, I never know when I'm going to ride until its time. What do you ride, in case I see you on the trail?
