Ah, fuggedaboutit.
Nones of us kin afford to just keep that stuff in a garage. And if we wanted to drive it around, who could afford the insurance? <sigh>
Heh, heh. At the risk of bein' a real party pooper (and y'all so know that Vega do love a PAR-TAY), I'm just being real.
*pop* pssssssshhhhht.
If I could trade the life of one of you for the car, which one would it be...

Honestly, I found myself thinking, "is that all?"
I'd rather see Seinfeld's garage.

Funny, I don't think in all my years I ever saw a shot of the McLaren's engine compartment. I don't think I'd forget those big CF air boxes.

If we were multi-million aires I guess we could have those toys. However, I keep it simple and get toys I can afford which essentially to someone without any money and may be a bum, says to his hobo friends.......look at his toys and that Litespeed bike is the bomb!:D

A simple timing belt's around 10 grand, the water pump, 30.
I remember a while ago mr.bean (yes mr. bean) had a burgundy mclaren f1 that had a little fender bender and required the front hood and fender replaced, that was like 80 or 90 grand.

Insurance? Hell, who could afford a down payment on a month's worth of gas for it?

I figure I'd rather build a Corvette to do what I wanted. Its not like you couldn't blow that thing away with a super pumped up Mustang. Its done all the time by red neck gear heads nation wide at drag strips. Sure it handles better and has a warranty, but for how much that damn thing costs I can blow out and repair a faster on the drag strip muscle car.
I don't think anyone buys one of these to go straight really fast, although it does hit about 240mph seating 3 comfortably.
Besides, if I wanted to go straight really fast, I can just strap a couple of solid fueled motors to any cheap car.

Or you could do a renegade 944 conversion if you wanted both speed and handling. A 350LT1 in a Porsche 944 will have as much power as you feel like putting into it, handle very nicely, and cost less than 20 grand.

There is absolutely no comparison. Don't be ridiculous. Leno himself explained why even a $1,000,000.00, 1000hp Veryon still does not compare.
C'mon now...

But it does make people feel better about stuff they can't afford.
It's the little extras, like... you can buy any sports car you want and still be able to pick up only one chick in the passenger seat. With the mclaren, I can have 2. ;)
It's like saying, why charter my own flight when I can just fly first class? Because first class has absolutely nothing on a private chartered flight. Private pick up, my choice of meals, my choice of entertainment, I can sit around naked if I wanted to, porno on the big screen...
When someone has a couple hundred mil, I don't see why they have to settle with a $20000 kit. That's like convincing yourself that a walmart gmc denali's a good enough road bike when you can easily afford 7-800 for a better bike (believe me, a tdf rider can outride any of us on that thing) but I bet almost no one here thinks that thing's adequate for anything (even though it is).
But when you're poor, yeah, that $20000 944 sounds pretty good, at least it's a porsche, just remember, when people ask you what you have, don't say 944, don't say boxster, say porsche so the first thing they think is a 911, don't let them know otherwise unless absolutely necessary.

Nah, I'd rather have the 944. I won't be ashamed of it when I get one. Its the only Porsche I can stand the looks of. The 928 is cool too, but I prefer 944's. Porsche makes some cars I find very ugly. Funny how the 80's made so many stupid looking cars, and yet I find it to be Porsche's best era.
Sweet looks, perfect handling, and as much power as you feel like putting in it. I like 944's.
Besides, my dream car isn't a 3 seater. Its a much less pricey 2 seater made in South Africa.

I actually saw a Ford-GT the other day rolling down the street. Very nice! A little larger than the GT40, but still very svelte and sleek-looking compared to the latest Mustangs.

There's a guy in LA that has a renegate V8 944, quite a beast with close to 400bhp. Falls right in between a 944 and 951 in weight and still preserves close to the stock 50/50 weight distribution for great handling. Problem is you then need to upgrade to 951 tranny, suspension & brakes to deal with the extra power. Actually the one I want is the twin-turbo mid-engined V8 944 with 1000bhp+. It was featured in Turbo magazine a couple years ago. Did 10-sec. 1/4-mile times. Would make one hell of a sweet roadracer... :)

There was a broken down brand new ford GT abandoned outside where I work last summer. Some idiot rented it, burnt out the clutch doing doughnuts, and left it on the street. The owner of the rental company ended up standing around for 6-7 hours waiting for is tow guy to arrive. He opened it up to let us check it out but the inside reeked.
