I'm looking for a good place to get in a midday ride near West Covina. No big hills, mostly flat or gentle rollers. I can steal a couple hours from work, so I was thinking about SGRT or the Santa Fe dam area. I have only ridden SGRT briefly on the Bloat ride, so I'm not sure where to park and jump in near the 605 and 10 fwy-- Any suggestions?
How 'bout you just ride to the SGRT. Less time in the car = more time on the bike and you don't have to worry about where you are going to park.

But the 10/605 or even 60/605 interchange is a good 15-20 miles from Ontario... I still need to get out there and right SGRT sometime.

Many years ago, I used to park at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area (210 & 605). I assume that is still a viable place to park. You can enter the path there.

I recommend this route too, as there's an easily accessible place to park. Head 210 West, 605 South, exit Arrow Hwy. Make a left off the exit, go around 1/2 mile, and there's a dirt lot on the left where you can park - you can't miss it.
From there, you can either head up the climb and ride the trail through Santa Fe Recreation Area to the base of 39 (it's around 8 miles or so), and then head back for an easy 16 miles. Or you can follow the bike path the other way for 1/8th of a mile, cross the street, and ride the SGRT down however far you like.
I'm sure there are places along the trail where you can hop in, but I'm unsure as to where to park as it might be residential area, etc. My suggestion is to park at the location I listed above, ride down SGRT, and keep an eye out as you get close to the 10 fwy of where gate entrances are, what the street outside is called, and you can get a better idea of how to access the trail in the future.
Have fun!

The SGRT also shows up pretty clearly on google earth, so you could scout it from the air first and see where there's likely to be parking and an entrance to the trail.
