Southern California - Anyone for SART on Sunday?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We should be out there. But we usually start at Imperial (42 miles). Imaginary Gina has been sick so I'd hate to push her by starting at GR. But we should be at Impeail about 9:30'ish. Maybe we will run into eachother considering your start time is a bit before ours.
I'm sure Sonny will be with me(need someone to fix his flats). Imaginary Ana and Imaginary Gina should be there too. We'll look for you! Not sure how fast but usually anywhere from 16.5 to 18 mph average.
We start in the Aaoron Brothers Art Mart/In N Out back lot of of La Palma and Imperial. We should be coming from the underpass just past the wooden bridge by Imperial. We throw a U'ey, stop at the portopotty ( I got a pea bladder), if you care to look for us!:D...That's if it don't rain, you know the weather dude usually guesses wrong.:p

Beanz, we'll be looking for you and Sonny, along with Imaginary Gina and Imaginary Ana. Trying to visualize the Imperial overpass. Never been off the path that far west, so I'm only somewhat familiar with the immediate surroundings.
How about you Herb man? Be glad to have your company.

Wooden bridge is only 30 yards form the Imperial overpass. IF you go straight by the wooden bridge,30-40 yards later, the trail will end. You can see the parking lot from there on your right. CAN't get lost cause you don't leave the trail.
To stay on the path, you must go left on the wooden bridge. Then right back onto the path. 30 yards to the Imperial underpass, 30 more to the por-o-potty I frequent!:D
Pic of Imperial and the wooden ridge that is East of Imperial.Pic is taken from the lot where we park. We usually don't ride this section where Imaginary GIna is cause it's full of glass. We ride under Imperial on nearside of river, then cross on the wooden bridge to the other side to avoid glass.

If you stay on the trail, you will go under Imperial on the farside of Imaginary Gina.
If you go past the bridge, you will go under Imperial to the lot where we park on the backside of Imaginary Gina. Easy, can't get lost, no wander from trail!:D

From Greenriver (app 9 miles):
Follow the green to the beach.
Follow the orange to our parking lot (yeah, we pretty much own it:D).

I am doing great....wish SART wasnt so far...would love to ride you all again!
I think its going to be warmer this weekend so be careful heating those tires up!!
I will have to get Markaj and plan a trip done there sometime..
Boy that's got to be one busy porta-pot. Must be all that coffee before hitting the trail.:) :) Anyway, if you think you'll be there around 9:30ish Beanz, we'll try to time accordingly.
....wish SART wasnt so far....
Herb man, Sunday morning, no traffic. In LA, ya sure.:D But I'll be leaving from Tujunga/LaCrescenta about 7:15 and have one other stop in route if you want a ride. I can probably fit one more bike in the bed of my truck if I jump up & down on the cover a few times.:D :(

Oh you are right over near my work...
Probably wont make this one...but we ride up in your area...
Up La Tuna to Foothill...Kagel and Lopez Cyns...
Hey, that's my favored port'o'potty along the trail there...
I work a few hundred yards off of the trail at the Ball Rd underpass, so I stop there to have a nice CLEAN place to do my business.:D

In the last 8 years, I've only skipped tha p-o-p maybe once!:o
Mr Beanz,
I think I'd like to join you for the ride, if you don't mind.
Even lookin at the map, I'm not sure where it is, probably because I
don't know Where the SART is!
How would I get there from The 55. coming form costa mesa?
Mr. Beanz
01-18-07, 11:31 PM
North 55 runs into the 91 east.(head towards Riverside)
Maybe 3 or 4 miles is the Imperial offramp, from the 91 fwy
go left about 1 mile to La Palma
La Palma. make a left..travel about 40 yards to the In'N' Out parkinglot/plaza. Turn left into the plaza and proceed to the very back left corner where we park.
We will be there about 9:20'ish. Usually we meet at 9:30, but 10 minutes incase Justme shows up a bit early.:D
Hope to see you there. Hope you don't mind riding with girls. They do a decent pace though!
At work, so I will pm you later in the week with my cell number incase you getlost.

Thanks,
Sounds good. And, no, I don't mind riding with girls. ( like I would ever mind the ladies:) )
I am up to a average of apx 16.5 m/hr now, so I should fit right in!

Just always gotta be better than me, hunh MTBLurkdude?! .........Now you know why I photoshooped your pic!:p :D
I will et you know that the gals are a bit insistent that they be on my wheel. They say I'm steady and safe. Gina's pretty good and flexible but Ana is a lil shakey and nervous after she broke her c-bone in 3 places, riding on another rider's wheel!
Psydotek, you should run with us too! I usually take the front and do a nice even pace so that we don't gap the gals. Several times, we have had other riders take the front but they are fast/slow and can't hold it steady. SO I always get voted to the front. The gals yell at me if I drop any riders. They let me know to slow or hold the pace. We try to hold everybody on the line without losing anyone!:) .......Unless of course, they are too slow, then it's their call to drop or turn back. I usually try ot push everyone a lil bit , but not too much. Just to your potential.:)
We're just a friendly kind of group. If you want somenone to talk to, we'll even send Sonny to your side!...He's the talker of the group:D
Mr. Beanz
01-19-07, 01:40 AM
Or if anyone wants an ez pace, we will also be on Sart on Saturday too. Ana is coming off a bug, Gina too but she seems to be doing well. We will do an ez'er pace on Saturday to save some legs for Sunday. Start place is the same. About 9:45'ish.
Extra 15 minutes in bed cause it's Saturday!:D
We are going to be on SART Sunday. Team Wheaties rides again! Since our son
is riding with us we will be riding at a slower pace. You can tell who we are. Beanz
knows us well.

OK, so who all have we got at this point? Mr. Beanz, Sonny, Imaginary Gina, Imaginary Ana, Drew 12, JustMe and another.
How about mtblurkr, 1955, and Psydotek, are you guys in?:) Probably see octico's family on the path.
Beanz, we'll look for you on the bike path there at Imperial? It's about 30 mins from Green River to Yorba Linda Park which is just up the street from Imperial now that I've looked at a map. Lots of shaded parking there, especially when the days start getting longer and hotter, although I can understand the attraction to In-N-Out.:D
Mr. Beanz
01-19-07, 12:58 PM
Yup, we start about one mile west of the park. We used to park there at every ride. But the park seems very popular with the softball and soccer leagues, so parking is/was sometimes hard to find. Then they opened up the big dirt lot. But I don't like parking in the dirt cause I hate getting my shoes dirty!:D

I'm not sure if i'll be on SART sunday yet. Partly depends on how my friend feels (he's still "recovering" from his fall last month so a trail ride would be good for him) and partly because we rode SART on Monday already. :) It was a whole lotta fun flying along the trail towards the beach with a tail wind and probably averaging 20-25mph but coming back was a real biotch (the wind was really cold and blowing hard for that last bit from featherly park to green river road)...

We play a lil differently. If the wind is that strong, we crusie down and work hard back. Seen too many riders flying to the beach and dying on the way back! We're pacers darn it!:p

Yup, . . . been there done that. Only in November it was head wind from PCH to Green River. It certainly gets worse as you funnel into the canyon at the upper end there though.:D

I get your emails Ralph I might meet you kids for the Wednesday ride next week.
I just had a change in plans, my son is sick so we won't be able to do the family ride :( On the other hand though ... I can ride with you kids at 9am on Sunday at GreenRiver (I have to work late on Saturday night) If 9am is too late let me know and I can leave from Lincoln and try to catch up to you guys.
Octico, be glad to have your company. Since Beanz' group won't be on the trail til around 9:30 at Imperial,:p 9s about right.;) I'll probably be there a little earlier. Just look for a red GMC Z71 pickup with a bronz colored bed cover, and 2 bikes.
I am sorry, but where are we starting at? Once we get to PCH are we going to turning around, or head down towards Bolsa Chica ?
Sorry octico, I wasn't very clear on that was I?:o I'll be starting at Green River, and park down by the fence at the golf course. I expect to meet up with Mr. Beanz and the group about 9:30 at the Imperial Blvd. access about a mile west of Yorba Linda Park. My friend and I always stop for lunch down at the beach before heading back. Don't know what anyone else wants to do but there was some previous talk about an In-N-Out Berger.:):D :D

Well Imaginary Ana cheesed again!..I just might change her name from "Imaginary" Ana to "Hasta La Vista" Ana!
You still going Drew? Gina didn't scare you away did she?:p
We ran into Extort and Drew at Surf City Cyclery. Gina was at the register and I looking at bike stuff. I heard someone say,"there's Beanz right there". Didn't register at first then I realized someone had mentioned Beanz. SO I looked up and saw Drew. Had no idea who he was. I felt that "WTF" look on my face. Then I saw Extort and realized they were forum members!:D
