Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Frame materials

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Though I understand that the most talked about frame material choice for single speeds is chromoly, I am curious as to how other frame materials will hold up. Has anyone tried carbon frames for single speed? Perhaps the torque from climbing would be too much for the frame material???

Carbon would be fine (most track racers are carbon thses days)
Just a little bit too much $$$$$$
Besides steel is cooler
I don't know what would be worse: This being a legitimate question, or you being a troll.
I'm going with the former.
