Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - double-walled steel vs. kkt njs toe clips

I'm switching over from powergrips after using them for 2+ years because I have had a major failure with them twice within the past days. My og set ripped, so i bought a new set and today I was slowing down and the strap separated from the hardware. On top of that the bolt that connects the hardware to the grip shredded from a very small amount of pressure.

I found these on ebay to replace the powergrips:

new-old-stock ALE steel toe clips. They are stamped "ALE Registered" on the front and "Made in Torino, Italy" on the bottom. They are a heavier duty toe clip relative to some of the others we sell, as they are reinforced with two layers of steel...it's almost as if there were two toe clip bodies riveted together for extra strength.

I like the idea of having a really stiff clip, that's why I started using powergrips in the first place. Has anyone used either of these? Or does somebody know of something in the same price range that's super stiff? I'm going to do a search for pedal clip combos but I'd like some feedback on these specific ones if I could get it.

I actually prefer nylon toe clips. Metal toe clips hurt my feet. Too bad they look crappy. You don't need the clips to be stiff; you need the straps to be strong.

Go with whatever is cheaper of you like the look of more. Theres not too much of an advantage to the leather except for reducing shoe scuffing.

the leather wraped toe clips are pointless. i had a pair i found cheap at a swap meet, and after a month or two of daily riding, the leather looked trashed. dont bother. any steel clip will do you fine though, im happy with my mks, they are easy to find and relatively cheap.

I'm using the NOS ale steel toe clips; they rock except i think they might be one size too small. seriously stiff though and look nice as hell. don't know where you can get them, i picked mine up at my co-op

those are on ebay now. i need a size medium. what size are yours?
right now there is one set of larges and one set of mediums

I disagree...it think you need both. I thought otherwise until a few days ago i switched to MKS metal clips. Huge difference pullin up the hills.

plastic ass stocker clips on my kilo tt SUCKED, they would always get stuck on the pedal and i couldn't clip in!! **** that **** yo, MKS 4 LYFE NOW HOMIES

i checked all over, it doesn't indicate what size they are.
