Greetings,

I used to ride and repair bikes as a kid, but I haven't ridden until recently. In April 2005, I bought my first decent bike, a Specialized Sirrus which is a comfort road bike to get in better shape. At the time I was about 110 pounds overweight.

Eleven months (on March 1, 2006) and 50 pounds later, I got my first real road bike, a Specialized Roubaix. It now has 3,900 miles on it.

Three weeks ago, I discovered mountain biking. My third ride was last Sunday at Alafia River State Park. What a blast! I rode the intermediate (blue) and expert (single black diamond) trails. I'm riding a Schwinn Sierra LE. It's a cushy tail with grip shifters. It's a terrible bike that's a pain to shift but it got me started. I'm definitely hooked. I've got my eye on a Specialized FSR XC Pro full-suspension bike with air shocks and hydraulic disc brakes.

Thanks for reading. Ride-on!
Dana

Welcome to BF! Let me introduce you to a phrase you'll hear often: This thread is worthless w/o Pics! Post some pics of your rides!

welcome to bf!
if you can, keep them all, or at least have a road bike, commuter (around town -p/up groceries, etc), a mtb for the trails. have you considered bicycle touring? there cound be another bike for that! lastly, ever been 'bent? recumbents are a blast as well to add to your choices!
if you have storage, one's never enough!
check out the other site here at bf for ride/bike specific info.
welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. I don't have any pictures but my ride data can be viewed at http://k4lk.motionbased.com/. On november 12, I rode 200 km (127 miles). I had wrist surgery after that. I'm signed up to ride 184 miles for the Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour in central Florida on April 21-22. Off-road is such a blast. I can't wait to go again.

Yes, I'm a ham. KF4CHO sounds familiar. I'm trying to get a Raytheon team together. There is some interest but it doesn't appear serious. Guess I'll be looking for a team. Or I'll ride solo.
