Folding Bikes - Any experience with folding recumbents?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Anybody out there with experience riding folding recumbents on 20" wheels? SatRDay, Brompton recumbent owners??

I'm very close to converting my front suspension Downtube folder into a recumbent with a kit from Cruzbike (www.cruzbike.com). I'm primarily looking for comments on stability and comfort of a recumbent ride on 20" wheels. The Cruzbike will have front wheel drive.

All comments welcome before I start tearing up the bike

Both options you have listed may have 16" wheels. Mrs LWaB owned a 16" SatRDay for few years. It steered nicely.

Sesame, I'm considering doing the same thing, either with my Downtube or my Raleigh 20. Eventually change out the hub to an 8 speed internal geared hub. Have you got the kit yet?

Interesting! I just got the kit today. Everything looks great.

However, after much deliberating, I think I'm going to convert my mountain bike first. I am preparing for my first double century this season and want to use this recumbent. I'm opting for the 26" wheels and full suspension of my mtb.

I want to convert the Downtube next though, if everything goes well.

If you do convert your folder, will you keep us posted so we can benefit from your experience?

I'm almost done with my conversion on the mountain bike. If you are still planning to convert the folder, I'm happy to share my comments and experiences. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.
