I plan on doing some contract work in Columbus Ohio over the next year. How is the biking in the area? I am presently in Statesville, NC where I can hop on the bike and within 5 minutes I'm on 2 lane back roads with very little traffic.

You might find something at this site for biking in the Columbus area.

I've been on sponsored rides from the Dayton area to Columbus and the roads were fine.

PJ,

I live in a North subsurb of Columbus and there are plenty of places to ride. My son rides on a trail that runs along the Olentangy river. I ride farm roads that run North and West of the city. I can be out in the "sticks" within about 30 minutes. My drivers are pretty good about dealing with cyclists. There are not a lot of hills in this area mostly flats, only hills are coming up from the river and they are only about a quarter mile in climb.

Thanks...Mostly flat you say...that will be a big change from here. I go out here and the average climbing distance is about 2500 feet for every 30 miles.

I'll be commuting up from NC so I'll be looking for a place over on the east side over near Reynoldsburg/I-70/Brice Road. My guess is if I head south or east from there, I'll be on the back roads...
