This might seem like a bad idea to some, jumping the gun to others, but I was thinking of organizing a contest for the bike builds. Here is how it works....
1. Time limit for builds is one month. Post pictures when you are done the build.
2. Entering the contest involves putting up a bike part(s) of value, around 10 or so, probably something that you have left over. A couple of cages ( or one nice one), a roll of hadlebar tape, 3 tubes, stuff like that.
3. Poll for the winner.
4. To get the ball rolling, I am commiting to the winner... 2 profile cages, a set of spd pedals, ea70 flat bar, and a set of campy brake levers.
PM me if interested.

I thought about the same thing, but one concern I have is that the winner is likely to be the person who needs the prize the least. In other words the bike with the nicest components on it is likely to win, and the person who can afford the nice stuff probably really doesn't need or want everyone else's spares.

Maybe put a dollar limit on it?
Its still going to be who has that lump sum of money who's going to win, not the guy who could use those 3 spare extra tubes
My blasphemy machine will definately not win. And will probably not be done in a month.
This is all I am saying.

"nice" is entirely subjective. I, for one, would vote for a "bikechurch" style built for less than 300, including the frame, rather than juvi-Kyle bling. Phil's are nice, free Normandy's powdercoated for $5 are better.

i think someone who doesn't have the cash to buy good parts wouldn't even be part of this big IRO group buy.
