Hi all,

I was steadfastly commanded to post pics of my Raleighs on the meet n' greet thread, so I'll be a good newb and listen to my elders.

First off is Seamus, the mid-70's Record. Note all the fantastic trappings, like auxiliary brake levers and a "custom" job on the rear brake cable from the previous owner.

I keep thinking about, when I have more green, fixing it up and changing out the rear for a flip-flop hub, but that Suntour keeps ticking and clicking. I figure that if after 30 years of use it's still going, it'd be disrespectful to yank it until it dies of natural causes.

Secondly is Aoife, my 3-speed Sport. Had a nasty spill, thus the aftermarket chrome fork. I think it gives her a touch of class, though. She's from somewhere in the '80s, though I haven't really pinned down when.

I really want to find a good, chrome rear rack for her. For utility and vanity. All the bike shops in the area don't carry chrome, though. Any ideas?

Also, note the Last Supper, painted on black velvet, in the background. My roommate is a weird dude.

Anyhow, good to meet you, gearheads of antiquity.

It isn't period correct but Tubus (http://www.wallbike.com/tubus/cosmo.html) makes a nice stainless one:D

No accounting for some people's taste:rolleyes: ;)

As far as dating Aoife if she has the Sturmey Archer hub, it should have a date stamped on it.

Aaron:)

Thank you for the photos, meta aesthete. No one at the meet and greet ever takes me seriously when I invite them to come visit us and to bring photos.

How old are you? 23? That SunTour could outlive you :D .

Nice bikes! Thanks for posting the pics.

I don't know of a chromed rack to fit to the Sports, but the common aluminum rack that you see on lots of '60s-'80s bikes (the Pletscher-style knockoff) could probably be polished on a buffing wheel charged with Tripoli compound, then sealed with clear spray paint. I'm going to try that as soon as my buffing setup is ready.
