Anyone want to weigh in on the touring potential of the early 80s Trek 520?

It's a full on touring rig, check it out: http://www.vintage-trek.com/images/trek/91/1991TrekCatalog.pdf
I would love to find one of these.

Right, but how does it actually stack up in the Trek lineup? In my mind it's got more roadie geometry. And before this devolves into a "any bike can be a tourer" discussion, I'm just trying to help the new poster out.

Well there is no geometry in that brochure (that I saw on a quick glance) but being that is marked as a touring bicycle with "long distand touring in mind" has full suite of braze ons and being a trek I am sure it has at least 44cm chainstays if not 45, I'd say you can't do much better for a touring bike.

No way that's a 62 w/a standover of 33.5inches.

I replied in that other thread posting the '83 brochure. I was talking about the '91 at first which would make an excellent touring machine. I am very picky, I need double eyelets and cantilever brakes on a bike designed for 700c wheels. In other words I want a late 80s to early 90s touring bike. But 62cm is my size.
