Guys,

I rode this in 2005. It was an amazing ride through some of the prettiest canyons I think I've ever ridden. It was also windy and had close to 7K ft of climbing (most of which is AFTER mile 70 - no, I am not kidding). I would love to get a group of BFers interested in going. I'm seriously considering doing it again, only taking a couple of days off and making it a weekend with a visit to my aunt's house. The ride is on a Sunday, which makes it a little harder for those who have to work on Monday. But if you can swing it, you will not be disappointed by the route. Plus, if people come up on Saturday, we can all meet for dinner in Carmel by The Sea or Pacific Grove.

Oh, and as you will see on the website, there are all sorts of events to attend as well (duh).

Date of the Century Ride: Sunday, April 15th (7AM SHARP start time. If you aren't off the track by 7:15, they will not allow you on to take off at all)

Any interest?

(Big Sean, Pheard and I are for sure)

My only 2 hang ups are.

1. I need a road bike.
2. 7am is freakin' early.

Of course, my grandma lives in carmel, so I'd definitely have a place to stay which would make this a whole lot more doable for me.

Bags! I love that area, and I can imagine how beautiful this ride is. However, I'm out of town for the Wildflower on the 28th, and I'm pushing my dogsitting resources as it is. Plus there's that bit about >50% of climbing after mile 70. I doubt I'll be up for that sort of abuse. Next year, or a similar ride in the fall, would be rad.

My boss wants me to work Sea Otter, but its not for sure yet. I've called some other vendors and they seem to think its worth the money, so I'll probably be there (though I'd rather ride a double!).

Kinda depends, it a roll of the dice from year to year. I can be rather nice and it can be rather chilly. But often times it is more on the pleasant side, maybe a bit chilly later in the evening and early morning. If ya camp a little further north around Aptos/Santa Cruz it should be just a bit warmer.

Anyone who does this century will NOT be disappointed (it's gorgeous and tough - but the canyons are stunning). It's worth the drive. I'd be doing this if it wasn't for the fact that I've now decided to do Hemet.

I wont be doing their century because it is on sunday, but those who do will enjoy. I have other commitments on sunday.
