I carry cold weather clothes in my pack when I'm up there in the summer! In the winter I stay near Tuck's and carry even more clothes. People have died of hypothermia in July. I've heard it can drop 30 degrees in 30 minutes.

While the wind is strong, the temp is no so
I once skied in VT when they closed due to -70F windchill, something like -35F at top with 30mph+ winds if I recall. The group of us were the only ones there, they closed after we got three or so runs in. We had full face coverage and even so had to cover/wrap our heads with extra layer for the lift up.

I was stationed at Ft Richardson Alaska for two years in the Army and had several winter war games up by Big Delta in the winter and spent over a week at a time in ten man tents with temps as low as 64° below 0F.

The interior gets that cold. It's quite a bit different being in deep cold vs. being in winds that allegedly make it feel that cold. The wind can be blocked. Arctic cold changes everything. Sound itself seems to change. All fluids turn solid, or become supercooled and dangerous. I remember when I was putting antifreeze in my truck at forty below one morning some of it spilled on my glove and soaked through. It gave me a nasty burn just as if it had been scalding water. Windchill doesn't do that. Nor does it stop the flow of propane in the line or crack the sap inside trees.
