This forum is pushing me along the way of accepting that I should spend almost as much money on a tandem than on a car. So I am still in the used route, to at least moderate the excess a little. Granted a tandem is more fun that any car.
The Co-Motion you saw the dents of in an earlier post is a 2006 Speedster Co-Pilot (S&S couplers), essentially stock, with some add-ons. As you saw by the dents, used but not too bad. Seller wants $4650 with the cases Any opinions? Co-Mo said no problems with the dents.
Size is fine except that my stoker might loose the suspension seat post (29" inseam on a Large frame, stand over height is OK, but I don't think she will have the additional 2.5 " required by the Thudbuster). However she does not have a suspension post in the current tandem. Maybe there is a suspension post out there that adds less height to the seat post.
I am dead set on S&S so I have a major limitation for the used offering.
Anyway, if any of you have an nice S&S coupled bike for sale, in a Medium or a Large....
Too many questions for a single post, and I'm not even sure how much prices and market are acceptable issues for this forum, but here it goes, I will appreciate any responses.

Given what I saw in just the two photos you posted, that's a rough looking '06. Be sure to fairly assess the condition before using the tool, noting that replacement cost for a basic Speedster Co-Pilot + two hardcases per Co-Motion's current Web info is $5875, plus any other accessories, taxes, etc... I think there's definitely room to negotiate on price. As for fitting and the shock post, that's really a personal decision. However, don't let your enthusiasm for a new tandem compromise a good fit for you or your stoker. You can't will the frame to be larger or smaller than it is.

While size/proper fit is paramount, suspension is not a real necessity, especially since your stoker is not currently utilizing a suspension seat post.
If the need arises, a saddle with springs could be used.
A 2007 Speedster Co-Pilot lists for $5425 and hard cases @ $379 each so you'd be saving around $1,500 on this bike.
Of course add shipping, perhaps import duty, to Argentina and your investment increases a bit more; unless someone is traveling out your way and can bring the tandem in its cases?
Negotiating a bit lower price is also worth a try!

I have a steel Co Mo with S&S and we don't run a thudbuster seatpost. The steel has a great ride. If they're throwing in teh cases, that's another $700 value right there. BUt do make sure she can standover the thing....

I am with Tandemgeek. Make sure the frame dings are the only thing wrong. The frame does not fit your stoker. I would tell the seller: Your bike is worth every penny you are asking for but I am not sure how well is going to fit my stoker.... I may have to turn arround and sell it.... I need some room in the price to do that. Would you take $______? Really, how much can you sell that tandem for in Argentina? I do not think you would come close to getting $4,650 in the US.

If you do need the suspension seat post, I think the thudbuster has the lowest height of all the suspension seatposts, at least in the parallelogram designs. As noted above, a sprung saddle can be a lower height and less expensive/lower performing substitute.

I suggest checking out T’Geek’s website and calling (if you are comfortable doing that) some of the distributors to see if there are any deals. For example, Bicycle Outfitter carries a good inventory and sometimes things just do not sell. Right now in the US, it is winter and there is not much sales activity in bike shops and they would really like to reduce inventory and get some cash flow. Define your requirements and let them recommend a bike. They may have another brand or Co-motion that is new but last years or two years ago model that meets your requirements and fits you perfectly. Then negotiate a price and terms of sale. You may be surprised by what is available. The USD 4650 may seem cheap to you and be okay for the used CoMo but it is a lot of money, if things do not work out or it does not fit.
