I believe its a dirt road... allot of mountain bikers ride up there.... At least I hope thats the same road your referring to!!!

It's paved. Dunno the grade, but it's steep...

EDIT: It's about 1/2 mi, 12%. It's right off Santiago Cyn Rd.

I've done it on my road bike going in both directions and it's steep.

That's the East (or south maybe?) side, the other way is longer, but not as steep, and has a couple of fun switchbacks. Either way, it's a short tough climb.
