I'm getting knee surgery on the 8th, so I've got a month off work. I should be back to sloooow low resistance spinning on the trainer by the 21st, so I'll have lots of time to take in the coverage. Might be time to invest in a DVR/DVD-Burner hookup for the TV.

>>I'm getting knee surgery on the 8th, so I've got a month off work. <<

In 1989 I had an ACL reconstruction and was given 4 weeks to recover. After two weeks in bed sucking down Percoset and then Advil I said F this action, suited up and returned to my job as a Mercedes Benz salesman. We had a showroom with three flights of stairs to get to the roof parking lot to retrieve cars for test rides with customers. I was sailing up and down those bad boys on crutches in no time.

Beats the hell out of lying in bed. But in those days I didn't have Versus cycling TV to entertain me. I might have stayed home in that case.

And it was the rehab from that injury (starting with cycling about 6 weeks after the surgery) that led to my cycling addiction 18 years ago. Good luck with your surgery and rehab....

Those Perc's are the real dealio.

Anyone know if this schedule holds true for OLN up in Canada as well?

Thanks for posting this :)

(Those times are Eastern, so make appropriate changes for your time zone)

Official release: http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/race-live/tv-schedule.html

That is one ambitious schedule that adds up to 14 hours of coverage.
And think for a moment about what that crew will be accomplishing:
The race ends at about 6pm e.s.t., and they'll have it edited with stand-ups, titles and music, and trimmed to fit and on the air by 10pm in some cases.
First of all, those crews won't see the light of day outside of their compound for the entire week.
Secondly, each day, they've got to compress a 5 hour event into 40 minutes and have it make as much sense as possible.

I don't want to read anyone whining about them missing something or showing the wrong stuff or showing it at 11pm. I say it's a remarkable feat, and I can't wait to watch them work, and then watch their work.

I'm very fortunate to be driving one of the UCI Commissaires. Comm 3 or Comm 4.
Thankfully, I'll be in a car. The weather may not be as great as it was last year.

gapowermike

Much better than last years coverage.

Hey,

I don't know if anyone else has seen this so I thought I would ask here.

I am setting up my DVR to record the tour this week, but some of the times it is coming up with don't jive with the schedule on the official website. Has anyone else noticed this?

 It's probably something really stupid like "Pilot Guides", god I hate that show! Luckily I'll be down in the states over reading week so I'll catch versus up until Friday :D, too bad I can't tape it

Arg, tell me about it. I need to get off those suckers, I can make it through the days now without any - but when I try to go to sleep the knee comes to the forefront. I usually break down around midnight and eat a couple to fall asleep

I agree about having the need for medicine that works. After my foot surgery the doc gave me hydrocodone which was next to nothing. I guess they are afraid of oxy due to all the addictions and lawsuits. Here's to your healing!! Get well soon!!

Wondering the same thing. Last year's "feed" did not work so well if I remember correctly.

Yo "EVENT"

...keep us posted here on any inside stories. Sounds like it will be a blast.

Thank GOD for VS. at least....I'll be in front of the tube at 4:00 Central today!
I'm ready for SPRING!

anyone know who is calling the race. Will Paul and Phil be there or Bob and Al?

READY TO SEE SOME RACING!!

I've been down and out the last day with some sort of stomach bug thats just now finally getting cleared out and while I'd love to watch coverage all day I really should get some school work done. Doesn't mean I won't be sneaking some peaks at the updates through the day. Anyone know when the race starts in Cali? It's still only a little after 9am out there now.

I think the prologue starts at 1 PM Pacific time. At least that is what it looks like at:

Jakey

I saw that they are playing the stages in the evening on the VSHD. The race isn't being filmed in HD is it? ...that would be sweet.

Bullseye

I've got nothing. I updated flash, pulled up the live tour tracker, and don't have any video.

arghhhhhhhh.

DrPete

It's all been '06 recap on Versus right now... I think some real coverage is about to start.

WOOHOO!

RockyMtnMerlin

Too bad they (VS) couldn't even get the spelling correct on Zabriskie when he started! Also interesting that it is really not "live." Right now they have Z riding and he finished some time ago.

mike9903

I love how they are calling out the time keeper for Jason Donald's time. . .

DrPete

Yeah. WTH is up with that? Couldn't possibly be that the no-name American kid has put all his eggs in the ToC basket and is peaking early... Nah, just blame the officials.

mike9903

Or maybe he has just been eating a lot of Chipotle burritos! (main sponsor for team Slip Stream)

They were just showing Jullich's elliptical chainring, I have never seen anything like that. Anyone here use one?

bdcheung

Do a forum search for "biopace" :)

As for Jason Donald... I think I heard him say "timekeeping is for wussy!"

mike9903

Could they talk about the size of the crowds any more????

mike9903

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they need to challenge the time keeper on Levi's time

bdcheung

that was a HELL of a ride by Levi... we were shouting at the TV.

Exciting prologue.

Hope it bodes well for an exciting week.

I need to come over there to watch the races.

My wife just rolls her eyes at me. Of course I have all the TV's on vs. so I can watch while I chase the kids around the house.

Anybody see the Prologue in person? I called up a friend in SF, but he coudn't get there in time.
