Southern California - Trabuco, Holy Jim MTB Ride, Sunday the 28th.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
A small group of us are planning to do the Trabuco, Holy Jim loop on Sunday the 28th, starting around 9:00 am.
We'll be parking at the Holy Jim lot at the end of Trabuco Canyon Rd around 8:30 to 8:45.
We'll be going up the Trabuco Trail to Main Divide, then Over to Holy Jim. Once there we will continue up the Main Divide to the top of Upper Holy Jim, then head down for a fun coast down Upper and Lower Holy Jim back to the vehicles.
Hope some BF riders can join us on this ride.
See ya on the trails

JamR, what's the difficulty of this ride? I'm interested. I've been itching to go ride in the dirt. I'll see if I can find some info on it online. :)

Yeah TIffanie - it's a ride.... lots of tough climbing.
Join the group doing Aqua Chinon. Good ride for you - it's challenging but not epic.
It's definitely a grunt.
Rock hopping and stream crossings at the bottom of the canyon, and 40% of climbing Trabuco requries a hike-a-bike.
But once at the top, coming down Upper and Lower Holy Jim is well worth the work.

Rock hopping and stream crossings are a definite draw... I'm just not sure if I can handle the climbs! Oh and my sons bike is a beast, so hike-a-bike probably puts me out of the running. :(

Thanks Trac'! :o The hike a bike sections are what got me though... Jake's bike is way too heavy!

what size is your son's bike? You can ride my Magniesum light weight bike, size 19" weighs about 24lbs (super easy to carry) Just bring your own pedals:D It has a super sick REBA front fork with remote lockout near the shifters so climbing energy is not wasted though suspension travel. I can lower the air pressure in there so it will be plush at your weight, right now it's set for a 200lb rider like myself so might be too stiff for you. You ride that bike and I'll ride my blue full suspension:D I'll be riding slow cuz I plan on do a solo century on Saturday;)
EDIT: it has all it's gears back on so don't worry about it being singlespeed

ok, try this, go down to your LBS, try some 19" bikes (hard tails) and see how it fits. You never know, it may be just about right for you.
The offer is still on the table:D

Yeah no doubt. They've had a purdy white Yeti there for awhile now that I've had my eye on every time I go in there! :p
Jeff, I actually have my BIL's MTB here that happens to be a 19". I'll ride it around a few times in the next couple of days and see how it feels. Again... thanks. :D
