I might be visiting family near Akron in early April. Is there some technical singletrack riding that would be open then?

Depends on how far you wish to venture. West branch state park has several trails, In Medina Regan park has a couple of trails, Quail hollow has a short trail, or if the weather is bad head to Ray's indoor park in Cleveland.

There's some places in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. When you get in, stop over at Century Cycles in Peninsula, bunch of them guys are MTBers and can tell you some good places to go.

An Ohio update. Just got back from a spring trip to Ohio (one day 80 degrees, the next day 35 degrees with snow squalls). Rode at Vulture's Knob. It was cool, but we went to Mohican State Park too and it was awesome. Rode 14 miles of the 24 mile trail before I was reduced to rubble. Definitely going back. Does 2,000 feet of climbing even seem possible? That's what the Garmin Edge said. Hopefully next time it won't snow. If you live near this place, you're lucky. Does anyone now the deal with how much is closed during summer for horseback riding?
