Hi Guys, I'm trying to findout about a Mountain Road Climb Competition held I believe once a year somewhere in LA County (Where I'm not sure) which sees road cyclists go up against one another trying to climb this mountain/hill in the least amount of time, starting from the bottom & making there way upto the top. I was wandering if people who live in LA County can give me some direction as too what this competition is called & where this particular hill/mountain is located within the County???...
Please Reply, Appreciate It.

If it is a short but steep hill climb, it most likely is Fargo Street Hill climb..

Hmmm, I don't know if this is the correct competition I was thinking of. The Fargo Street Hill climb looks to be set in more of an urban environment while the one I'm thinking of is more mountainous, sandy etc althougth it still remains a road competition not off-road.

Are you talking about a longer road ride like the Mulholland Challenge?

I've got it guys, Thankyou for the reponses. Its the Piuma Hill Climb competition (8.2 miles, 2260 feet of climbing). This is the one I'm talking about. I'm hopefully going to be in LA County in Febuary.
Now what I need to know is, where in LA County is Piuma Hill???...

Piuma is off of Malibu Canyon/ Las Virgines Canyon a couple miles south of Agoura road, near Calabasas. There is also a hill time trial up Mulholland from PCH in March and another up Mount Baldy, but I'm not sure that one is still going.

That sounds close. We just had a thread about the climbs in the Santa Monicas. In that area I think Tuna Canyon is pretty tough. It comes up the ocean side of the same ridge where Piuma is. Then there is Las Flores nearby. Both of them have 20-23% grade but aren't very long. Further northwest off of PCH there is Latigo cyn, Encinal, Mulholland, Decker, (15% for a long way), Yerba Buena, and the most brutal, Deer Creek.

I think the OP might be thinking of the GMR race.
The only race on GMR that I'm aware of, is the San Dimas Stage Race Time Trial. It goes up the first 3.8 miles of GMR. I know their used to be a Mt Baldy Hill Climb, Socalrider has mentioned it few times, but it's no longer being put on. I think there still may be a collegiate race on either GMR, GRR, or Mt Baldy Rd? I really wish that some club would put on some race up there, either time trial or mass start.
The Piuma Hill Climb is put on by La Grange, and I think it's only open to club members, that is, if they even do it anymore.
For the OP, the Mt Charleston Hill Climb (http://www.mountcharlestonhillclimb.com/) is in September, it's in Nevada. It used to be a time trial, but last year was changed to a mass start race.
