Maybe if I start planning now I can make that one. I love being insanely busy... not.
I'm going over to the dark side and purchasing a beat up vehicle in the next month or two. It should make things easier for organized and group rides. That and picking up my son in snowstorms.

PS: Oh, We caught some bad weather on the way back down... RMCC had to have been HURTING... that is, if they didn't just turn around when the weather started rolling in.
BM.
I was in Beaver Creek mountain biking all weekend. It was a ball.
Looks like you had a ball too. :)

I noticed that too!!!!! :)
I went and rode Apex. (MTB) Ok, maybe rode is to strong a word. More like I walked my bike up Apex. Man, that thing was hard. I need more skillz. Girls only want boyfriends who have great skillz. :D

Yes, and it's the most awesome jersey in the world! Actually, I own two jerseys now... Club Hypoxia and Triple Bypass.

Even more amazing? I just ordered a pair of shorts to match the Hypoxia Jersey.

There's even a Hypoxiette version!

We're doing the same ride again on the 2nd! (Probably start just a little earlier)
It's the last weekend that the summit road is open... if you're interested in doing the ride, you should come!
We're also doing the Peak to Peak highway on the 1st, starting in Boulder if that works better for you... a century with about 7,000 or 8,000 feet of climbing. Another AWESOME ride.

I will do my damnedest to make one of them. Evans would be kick ***** but I doubt I can manage the logistics relating to my family. *crosses fingers*
Peak to Peak is a fun road. I hit a bit of it doing one of my routes.
Either way I want to make one of the rides. It would be a wonderful way to end this summer.
I may just have to ride with y'all more and get me a jersey. :p
BM with a kit? Will wonders ever cease? j/k :D

Um.... that is what I was thinking.
Unless pwnt is living my fantasy of being a player.... something I joke about to my wife. For some strange reason she just laughs at me.

Peak to Peak ride info:
I've been thinking of doing a ride from Boulder, up the Boulder Canyon to Nederland across the Peak to Peak highway to Estes Park, then back to Boulder.
The route is a full century. It also has a very significant amount of climbing, probably 7,000 or 8,000 feet of vertical.
Plan is to meet at the Boulder Rec Center (at 55th and South Boulder Road) at 7:30 a.m. for an 8 a.m. roll-out.
UPDATE
Here is the route: www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Boulder-Nederland-Estes-Loop
Oh yeah huh?
And by the way, that last part was just a quote from Napoleon Dynamite.
SLLLLOOOOWWWW!! :D sheesh.

Just did not get it. Me likes dry british humor over this new fangled american sense of humor. Can't wait for hot fuzz via netflix.

Peak to Peak ride info:
Bleh....
Life interfers again. No daycare and my wife now no longer has the day off.
I'm going to have to find a shorter ride Sat. However, she may not work Sunday. *crosses fingers*
Evans would be a blast. We took my mother up it last Saturday and my goodness was it beautiful. Kind of scary to drive. Would rather ride. :p All the cyclists did not help.
I should know more later.

We'll be leaving Echo Lake at 7:30 for our ride up Mt. Evans... it IS a blast. I rode last time with a lady that's only been riding 3 months... told her she WAS going to make it to the top, if I had to tow her! (Then pulled out the cargo straps to prove I was serious!!)
She was all smiles when she did, in fact, make it to the top (under her own power, no less!)
If you do come, bring some cold-weather gear for the trip back down the mountain, and a change of clothes, just in case! (Sitting in wet cycling gear during lunch wasn't the highlight of my day, let me tell you!)
Forecast is looking good, but you never know what's going to happen that high up!

The only other route I have done that hits the peak to peak highway is the golden canyon,119, coal creak canyon loop.
There are a few routes that use the peak to peak highway. Routeslip.com and bikely.com have a few.

The Peak to Peak scenic byway runs from Canon City in the south to Estes Park in the north, and is made of sections of other hightways: 119, 72, 7
It runs basically along the first ridge of the front range, and there are at least 8 ways to get to it:
End point at Canon City (several ways to get there by car, ?? by bike)
Golden Gate Canyon (sweet! short steep bits)
Coal Creek Canyon (72) (too much traffic, but otherwise very nice)
Boulder Canyon (119) (way too much traffic)
Lefthand Canyon (ultra sweet! steep at the top)
St. Vrain (7) (sweet! smooooth pavement)
Estes Park (36 from Lyons or 34 from Loveland, both with a bit of traffic)
So there are a whole bunch of ways to make loops of varying lengths. The high point is Ward (9300 feet) and Meeker (~9000 feet).

Sorry to say this but are you ever off on your geography:eek: Peak-to-Peak starts near Central City/Blackhawk (where CO 119 starts from US6), not Canyon City. Canyon City (proper spelling if you don't have the little ~ over then n) is another 150 miles south. Also it runs through Meeker Park not Meeker. Meeker, CO is over on the west slope.
Other than that you are good.;)

I knew where you meant. Just wanted to make sure someone didn't drive to Canyon City and suddenly realize that they were in for a much longer ride;) A much, much longer ride! You would ride past lots of peaks however.

looking for a fast group ride in the 40-70 mile range for tomorrow (sat). Anything? I'm looking around but I'm having a really hard time finding groups. RMCC has something but it's 80 miles from denver. That's a little far for me.
Thanks,
B

There's generally a ride that leaves Amante Coffee in North Boulder at 8:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings. You might also call Mob Cyclery and see if they have a Saturday ride. I know they usually have a Sunday one.

hey all- i'm looking for a group or another individual who is interested in doing 30-70 mile rides on weekdays- (i am an artist and usually take my rides around 3-5 in the afternnon, but i have some leeway). I keep around a 16 mph avg on the paths- i am a clyde, ride a 62 cm bianchi volpe, and am a pretty good conversationalist and am getting to be a better cyclist...
i dont ahve a car, and so start my rides usually from the CC bike path. Im looking to do a cetury before spring starts(ive done a metric century already)
anyways- let me know!
I came here hoping to find motivation to get out and ride, or spin, or ride the rollers...
I guess we are all out doing other things. Guess its back to the gym and skiing. :)

I'm out there every day! Of course, I'm just doing transportational/utility rides right now... but that's anywhere from 5 to 30 miles a day. Most days 15-20 miles.

I was out today riding. It was great! :) Nice weather right before the next storm rolls thru!
sup bmc! I bet by april or may I'll be ready to tackle that ride I didn't finish last summer!
Thanks BMC & Snowy. We just moved. Well, are still in the process of moving. Perhaps once life settles back down I'll have a bit more motivation to ride.

Cool! Moving sucks! :) If the weather is nice I will always find a way to be on my bike. Until then its still snowboarding time :)
I hear ya snowy! For me its skis, but sliding down the mountain is a real blast! :) I hope to go the first part of Feb. again.
Yep I'm having a blast this year! :)
I've only been once so far. I am excited to get out a few more times this year. :)
Even decided on my big ride for this year will be the Climb to Kaiser in CA. Should be quite the challenge.
