I told my wife we were going to be riding from Sloan's Lake to Golden and back... she says "That's IT???" :roflmao:
I'll get about 10 miles on top of that, riding to the lake and back home. :p Maybe I'll have to make a grocery run in the morning... get myself good and warmed up before hand. hehe
I'm looking forward to the ride, it'll be lots of fun!

yeah yeah yeah, some of us are 'restarting' our season :p . I know I haven't ridden outside since the week before Christmas. Riding to Sloan's from my house would make it a 50 miler, but the girlfriend isn't up for that yet.....
It will be fun just riding :) and riding with everyone!! Even if we are slow. :)

Yeah, well... I've been 'training' 5x a week with this route: http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=20944&
With a 9 hr break in the middle, of course. :)
I've been riding in my basement and have yet to even make it to the stairs(about 4' away). But I keep pedaling away. :D :D
So how many are coming out??
S.dex and his girl, Pwnt, BMClauglin807, me........ anyone else?? :)
I can bring lots o friends. :D

Yeah it will be interesting to see how I ride. :)
It doesn't look like I'm going be able to make it. There is no way for me to get out of work. Work until noon.
WHAT???
That sucks.:(
Anyone willing to push the start time back any hour?

I'm up for any time. 10 PM works well... we should be able to make it there and back before the battery on my main lights goes out, and the traffic is nicer. :p
Anyway... I'm good for whenever.

30 minutes to get from 8th and Bannock to Sloan's Lake? Shouldn't be a problem if they don't keep ya late. :)

9news says it'll be clear, Weather.com says chance of snow, as does Weather Underground.
Though how you get much snow with a low temp of 35 is beyond me. *boggles* I think it'll be decent.

I would rather be early than late so....12:30.....
I'm nervous because I've never ridden this bike on the road, it has always been on the trainer. I'm not entirely sure it's even road worthy yet. I don't have anything ressembling a road kit if something should go wrong. I'm not sure my fit it right and I'm pretty sure I dont look good in spandex. :D
Or all this could just be the n00b jitters.

http://www.routeslip.com/routes/20998
Off topic, I used to live near the junction of Cherry Creek and Highline and work in the Tech Center so I know that commute well.
Before SE Denver I lived off Green Mountain and worked downtown so I know BMclaugh's commute as well.
Now I live in Golden and work in Longmont, I don't know that commute.........

I'd come along but everyone would need extra tubes and patch kits. :p
Actually, I have to wax my head.....or is it watch my son?
Count me in for a different ride. :)

I gots tools. If the bike doesn't hurt on the trainer, it will be fine on the road. You don't have to wear spandex.
And I understand the jitters, and it's all good. I'm looking forward to just being outside on the bike. Heck, a 28mi ride this early in the season?* I'm expecting it to be a 3 hour tour (including stops, etc). You gots nothing to worry about ... :D
* We should redo this ride in September and see just how much faster we do it :D I'm gonna bet 1:30 ....

I have tools and a pump... if you've got a tube that'll fit your bike, you should be good. And Superdex said he's bringin' his tools, too.
And yeah, I kinda figured 3 hrs, including stops and whatever. :) Snowy made me promise not to leave y'all behind! :p Actually, come the weekend I'm usually pretty tired out from all the OTHER rides I do during the week! I'm looking forward to a pretty easy and fun trip!
And yes... if you ever ride with Data Junkie, bring extra tubes... you're guaranteed to get at least 4 flats, your patch kit won't hold and your pump will stop working. (Ok, the pump never gave out, but I sure got tired of pumping!)
edit: By the way, Data Junkie, When we going riding again? :)
Don't worry this ride will be fun regardless. I have a frame pump on my bike and I'll be extra tubes too.
I think everyone will be happy just to ride and hang with other riders :)
I'll be in Leadville till early Sunday morning, boyfriend has a winter mountain bike race there Saturday night. S.Dex has my cell phone number if anything comes up. S.Dex you still have it right??

I think riding with you right now would kill me. :p
It was hard enough when I was at my peak condition last year. Now 10 lbs heavier with 6 commutes during the snows has me exhausted. Today and yesterday were the first regular length commutes since the beginning of December. By regular I mean the distance not the route. I have completely removed all trails from my commute. Mainly taking york to brighton blvd to bike route d11.
Anyhow, I am babbling. :p
Definitely after I get my new bike. Hopefully, before. :)
I hope my butt can handle 3 hours.

If it doesn't snow too much and my wife gives me a hall pass, count me in. It'll be good to go for a non-commute ride.
Would love to have you join us!!! :)

I'll be in knickers or full tights, depending. Yes it's too cold to ride in shorts -- it's February

Hey, I'm in Denver untill next week. I have one of my bikes out here, I might be up for a ride. Where is Sloan's lake?
Hey Efrobert. Sloans Lake is right behind St. Anthony's Hospital. I know that doesn't help but its just North of 6th Ave on Sheridan.
You can mapquest it.
Where are you at??
efrobert
02-07-07, 07:49 PM
I'm around the Tech Center. Exit 199 off I25. A couple miles from the Cherry Creek res.
Efrobert,
Go I-25 North to 6th Ave. West on 6th Ave to Sheridan. North on Sheridan to Sloan's Lake. Its past Colfax.
You can't miss it. Its a hugh lake on your right hand side.
We are meeting at 21st and Stuart St. Parking Lot.
Pm me and I'll give you my cell if your interested.

If you've not filled the peloton yet, I wouldn't mind getting in on this ride.
Can't believe it's been two months since I've gotten out and a nice ride up to Golden would be just the thing to get the joints moving again.
I'm trying to catch up on the thread -
February 11th at 12:30 from the parking lot at the corner of Stuart and w. 21st - out to Golden somewhere and return...
If this is still on - I'll see you all there - may even drag a buddy along for grins...
Cheers

Looking forward to it!
They just plowed my street yesterday - first sign of pavement since December 19th.
Can't wait to get back out there...
Would love to have you join us. :) See ya on Sunday!!!
Just a thought, I'm sure it will be fine but has anyone checked the route out to make sure it is ride-able? If someone wants to tell me how to get the route slip to work I can go check it out after work today and post my findings. Again, just a thought. :D
