So I know some of us are members of Team Evergreen, but I was wondering if any of you would want to form a bikeforum group rides???

I need to train hard for the Triple By-Pass that I'm going to be doing this summer and I thought this would be a great idea.

So tell me your thoughts and maybe we can get something going??:)

RMCC does rides that are specifically designed to ramp up to TBP, but yes I'm all over BF group rides!

Now how do we get rid of all this snow?

Well I rather ride with you guys!!! :) Plus I would like to get something going here. It seems there are quite of few of us here that we could form a pretty good group.

As for the SNOW. Think real hard and maybe that will melt it off. :D

So I'm just thinking off the top of my head but we could do weekend rides something like twice a month to start???

I'm hoping February will start to warm up here soon. ;)

I'm in. Twice a month sounds great -- when we get more daylight, a once-a-week climbfest would be good too....

snowy

Great and I'm in for a once a week climbfest too. I need that more then the hours on the bike. :)

The bonus is Daylight savings time starts on March 11th!!! YIPPIE :)

I'm going to make this thread a sticky for right now. :)

I'll start pondering the calendar and wait to hear from others :)

Where do I sign up. I'm in!

My bike is up and running, it's on the trainer now. I am really chompin at the bit to get going here. I would also like to do afternoon, evening rides up Lookout Mt. if you guys are up for that as well.

(thinks real hard to melt snow)

I'm in for the lookout mountain rides for sure!!! I live in Lakewood, riding distance from Lookout so thats a good climbing ride for sure. :)

I think starting mid-February I'll start posting weekend rides. Now what I need from you all is to help with the routes. :)

I will do my best on that but no promises. What your schedules like? I work 4am to noon so my evenings are free for the most part. (minus karate nights)

well there's the green mtn/dino ridge/red rocks route we've done, that's a gooder. Last summer on the Livestrong training rides we always left outta Sloan's Lake, mostly heading to Golden and beyond. There's also going from Sloan's to Cherry Creek Res (or Chatfield) and back. That should give decent miles too. I also enjoyed the loop starting at Chatfield res, heading up Deer Creek then North Turkey Creek into Evergreen and down into Morrison, then back to Chatfield res via the c470 trail. That was 47mi or so, and some good climbing....

Well you won't be newb for long!! :)

I work 6:30 in the morning to 3:45 or so. Not sure how much longer that will be cause I'm looking for a new job. :)

S.dex, yep I've done most of those rides too. The only one I haven't is that ride to Evergreen you mentioned.
I was also think we could do some rides like Idaho Springs to Loveland Pass, Coppermountain over Fremont Pass, some rides like that. :)

snowy
01-22-07, 10:36 AM
HA HA HA. yeah S.dex will tell you I'm not too fast coming up hill. You'll be fine and hey thats the whole point of riding in groups it makes you stronger!!!:D

You'll be fine I promise. :)

Sounds cool, snowy.

I'm hoping the next storm holds off until after we can get the "C" in. It will be a long slow day. I buddy of ours from Texas is going to be in town too. It'll be fun if the weather holds off.

Here's hoping...

Approx. 4,700 miles last year. And I didn't start riding till June. :) Now all I have to do is find the money for my cross country ride, I think I'm ready. :) :)

snowy
01-23-07, 04:00 PM
Thats great, can't say I did that many miles but this year I'm going to try hard for that goal. :)

We have a friend that did 15,000.00 miles last year. He has no car. :)

bmclaughlin807

I have a truck. It hasn't moved under it's own power in over a year. Makes a good storage shed for my tools, though. :p

So, when are we riding? I just visited Wheat Ridge Cyclery today and spent way to much money on CX tires for my Bianchi San Remo tourer and a new NightRider MiNewt Dual dual LED lighting system. Now, the new tires won't fit in my crummy old fenders, so guess I'll finally have to nice new fenders for that bike.

Once the road conditions dry up a bit, the 5200 is ready to roll too... :)

LETS RIDE!

I'm a maybe. Have friends in town skiing that weekend. I can definitely do the 11th....

snowy
01-25-07, 03:00 PM
Cool. I'll put it down for me. It will be good to get those legs moving on my bike. :) I rode the trainer lastnight and I wasn't liking the part of not going anywhere :)

I have a few ideas of some rides, I'm very open to suggestions though and would apperciate any imput :)

11th works fine with me too. :)

Depending on what time you go I might be able to swing the 11th. Let me know so that I might be schooled in the ways of roadbiking.

I'm in for the 11th. Any idea of starting point/time?

Zin

Since its going to snow AGAIN this weekend...

Anyone interested in joining me on a little snowshoe adventure on Green Mtn?

celticfrost
01-27-07, 08:38 AM
As long as it's above 45 degrees and the roads aren't a mess, I should be able to make it on the 11th. Starting late morning/ early afternoon will give us the best chance for sun & warm temps.

I've yet to take any rides in the Denver area, but I'm open to just about any route.

snowy
01-28-07, 02:48 PM
Since everyone is good with the 11th its a go. :) Pray for no new snow around that time. :)

I just got back from Glenwood Springs, we took our mountain bikes up there in hopes of getting to ride. The plan was to ride the bike trail along the canyon. We got to ride about 5miles before we came across this hugh gate "Bike path closed for season". We would have ridden thru but there was a CDOT guy watching us. :(
Anyhoo, it was snow packed. We went on to the hot springs.
You'll quickly learn that all of Colorado is under some sort of snow.

As for ride route. I'm up for anything. :) I'll put out some ideas this week. :)

Are we talking mountain bikes, OR are we still thinking road bikes?

bmclaughlin807
01-31-07, 11:58 AM
Touring / commuting bikes! *ducks*

I'll probably be the only one there with fenders, rack, panniers, lights.... But that's ok, I don't mind people thinkin' I'm a little off! :)

01-31-07, 01:31 PM
I'm hoping for some nice weather that weekend. They are saying the nexts weather is looking good??

Lets just keep our fingers crossed!!:)

bmclaughlin807
02-04-07, 02:33 PM
Weather looks good all week except they're calling for snow on Friday (Wouldn't wanna break our 7 week streak, now, would you? :p )

Saturday and Sunday are looking to be mid-40's... just gotta see what that little disturbance Friday does to us.

snowy
02-05-07, 10:52 AM
Does anyone know how much snow this Friday. I checked Saturday on Denverchannel.com and it says snow Friday and Saturday. If that is the case maybe we should push back the ride for the next week??

Any suggestions??

as for a route, I'll see if I can drive some options this week. Off the top of my head there's Sloan's Lake to Golden and back --it's not terribly long, but the roads should be pretty clean. Here's a quick routeslip fo Sloan's to the Judicial Center and back. ~28mi http://www.routeslip.com/routes/20884
