Would a old mtb stem work on a road bike? I would like handlebars to sit a bit higher to give my back a break. I know the roadie handle bar has a 26mm diameter and a mtb handlebar is 25.4mm, is the .6mm gonna make a big difference? And if it matters, this is for an older quill-type 1" setup. Thanks again.

Hi,
if the idea is to get a good fit so you can finally be comfy, you want something that will give you a good fit. The Nitto Technomic is a stem with a long quill that just might be the ticket.
