I am looking out the window at my new Motorcycle. I can't believe I bought a Motorcycle. I REALLY can't believe my wife let me have one. :D It isn't a Motorcycle really, more of a dirt bike. 185 cc Suzuki.

The roads to the fincas are pretty bad most of the time, this is my solution. Instead of 4-wheel drive, a dirt bike.

Only problem is: I don't have a license to drive one yet. Sigh.

Great little bikes! Do they have MSF courses available in Costa Rica? If so, I highly recommend it. :)

Remember, RUBBER SIDE DOWN!

Nope, no courses, I will be taught by our farm manager.

It is a used bike in excellent condition.

I am sure it is going to feel like cheating - going down the road on two wheels without pedaling. What a concept! I am still going to use the mountain bike for commuting to the office though.

You shouldn't need a license to drive it on private roads, just on the public roads. Those are great little bikes, it's probably perfect for what you need. I used to have a '72 Suzuki TS-250, lots of fun. Don't forget to wear a helmet!

You are correct, but I will be on public roads - even if they are dirt. ;) I bought it for 1,100 USD - which I think is a very good price. I have to go buy a helmet, and definitely I will be wearing it.

Yay! How cool! I want to see it! :) I want to get a motorbike sometime soon. Of course, I still have to learn how to ride one, first.

I love my motorcycle. I've heard that dual sports are tons of fun. If I had the inseam for it, I'd like to get an adventure bike one day. And a super sport, sport tourer...

I figure I am far more vunerable than I think on a bike too!

This should be an adventure - it is the first moto that I have ever had. First thing - to the shop to make sure everything works perfectly, especially the brakes!

Once the moto and the camera end up at the same place at the same time, there will be pics - I promise.

In the late 60s early 70s my parents had a little cabin by a big lake. There were miles of dirt roads around the lake and through the nearby farms. I had a Yamaha DT-125, then a DT-175. Had a blast. Those were some of best times I remember as a kid. Thank's for reminding me of them crtreedude.

I rode motocross for years before I started riding my road bike. I wish I could afford a new bike... I miss riding through the dessert.

Got Motorcycle, can't ride it for a while. Come to find out, I have to go through all sorts of hoops before I can get a license. I can ride it in the farms. I really did get it so that I would have something for our farm manager to ride to go get things. He is very happy to say the least.

I guess I will only be a rider for a while. :(

How you gonna practice for your license test if you can't ride it? And what are the consequences of being caught riding without a license, and the likelihood of being caught?

If it were me, I'd just go for it.

I can never own a motorcycle for two reasons:

1) I'd probably stop riding my bicyles,
2) I'd probably kill myself.

I don't think I have the self control to start on something mild. If I let myself get a bike, I'd probably end up splurging on a Duc or something fancy, then losing control and slamming it into something hard.

I have to go through hoops to get the permit even started. It isn't THAT much of a hassle, but enough that I won't do it for a while.

Just life here. As far as problems, who knows, things can be pretty random. Getting in trouble with the local police in a foreign country is not normally a very good idea.
