I just booked my flight to Tucson! Spending a week there in February and leaving WI to ride up Mt Lemmon. It is one of the 100 best climbs in America according to the current Bicycling magazine. I am looking forward to the 25 mile downhill ;-) Talked to my Father in law this morning and they had snow last night. Hope it is warm when I get there.

Hmmmm...
*trying to type symbol that resembles a middle finger*....
...have fun.
Riding my motorcycle up Mt. Lemmon scared the crap out of me...doing it on a bike would probably give me a heart attack! Hope you have a great time there (you're very brave :) )!

I rented a bike case from the bike shop and packed it up tonight. Had trouble getting the pedals off, the mechanic did not grease the threads when I had the compact crank installed. Then trying to get the handle bar to fit...But is done. The weather is looking to be in the mid 70's all week, 80 degrees warmer than here! This is my first time hauling a bike on a plane, what should I expect at the airport?

My trip to Tucson, AZ brought me great weather and great winter cycling. I was able to hook up with Cactus Cycling Club (http://cactuscycling.org/) for one ride. They have a nice looking jersay that I bought. Can't wait to show it off this summer here in Wisconsin! I joined their training ride up Mt Lemmon, head up for an hour from base and regroup at the bottom to make sure no one went off the edge. Jerry Rees lead this ride. If anyone is going out there, look up their ride schedule and join them. A lot of folks do from the sounds of it. My nephew is doing grad school at the University of Arizona, and he lead me out twice. I said I was up for a 30 mile loop and he had one he did frequently. I had heard about Gates pass from Jerry, how it was a nice steady incline heading out and very steep on the back side. Well, Ron circled out and we hit it from the back side! When I first saw where we were going I thought I was looking at a Jeep commercial!" I can't do that," I thought, "since I am not in summer shape." But he got behind me and coaxed me up. He tells me there are locals who have never done it from the back side. We went after Mt Lemmon for my last ride while I was there. I think riding the shrt steep hills of WI is harder physically, but knowing I was heading up for hours was harder mentally. We made it up to Windy Point Vista, 14 miles from the base. Just under 7000'. Not bad for me being in inter form, a far cry from peak shape in summer. Next time I will make it all the way. A picture of us before heading back down, Tucson in the background.
