I hope I can fit this one in. It looks like a good cause.

Great cause. I'll definitely see if we can make it. As long as we're going 75, I propose a possible extension of 25 miles, thereby satisfying the March century. I'm not sure we have any centuries planned for March.

Ending at Jax Irvine means a potential Sumo post-ride meal!

They left out the Jax in Claremont. If you hit that one you will probably get your extra 25.

Gotta check to make sure we can do it. But if we can, we'll be there.
I'll be there for sure! I know how it feels to have loved ones become victims of cancer (2 of my aunts have breast cancer) Anything that will help another survive cancer, I'm in.

Thanks, Jim! :) Greg, I was going to plan another Santa Barbara Century that day, but I think this is a far more worthy cause. I propose that a group of us BFers get together, add 25 miles to the 75 mile route and make it a Century. After, we can all go celebrate St. Patrick's Day together over a meal. Or, even the 75...regardless, count me in!

There is talk of meeting in Huntington Beach, and going from there to Irvine for the start time. This would put us well over the century mark ;)
Stayed tuned for more info :)

Holy crap the start time in Irvine is 7:30. What time would we have to leave HB?

Hey Olean!
We are tossing around meeting up at 6:30am to give us plenty of time to get to Irvine by the start time. We are still working on that though, so I'll be sure and keep everyone posted

Is there anyway to extend the ride in the middle so we can start/stop in Irvine?

I am trying to incorporate our club ride with this one, so we (OC Velo) may not be able to join you in that event.
How about a bunch of little bonus loops? like the Pie Ride, but not as mean :D .
6:30 start in HB (PCH to BB?)
7:30 start in Irvine (add round trip to Fullerton at the end?)

I may have to skip this ride now. :( Family duty calls... BUT, I'm not 100% sure. If I can come, I vote option 2 and then drinks/dinner after to celebrate St. Patty's Day! :D

Sounds good, but that HB to Jax leg won't give us the necessary miles to make 100, right? Are we going to end in HB too?
I only ask cuz we're considering beginning and ending the ride at our place in Irvine rather than driving to HB. I'm trying to make the milage add up right under the various scenarios.
EDIT: I now see the answer in post #26. So, the plan is to ride from the HB pier to the start, do the Jax ride, then ride back to the HB pier? And this wll be >100 miles. Right-o?
Gretzky
02-23-07, 05:31 PM
We are guessing that it will. If not, it will be close.. and we can always improvise on PCH from that point :)

Hey Paul! I was thinking of joining too...but you probably don't want me pushin the pace and making you feel bad like I did on Sunday ;)
All right...the truth is my legs are feeling that pace you guys/ and gal pushed back from L.B.
After you turned off towards home, you missed Pico destroy a team on his fixer. It was cool to watch. All I could do is try to hang on keep them within eyesite.it was a good time...
