So a guy is driving one night across an endless stretch of farmland; he's been in his car all day and still has a long way left to go. Finally, after miles of empty darkness, he sees the lights of a ramshackle little tavern at the side of the road, so he pulls over to take a break.
He walks inside, makes his way through the crowd of cowboy-types, and takes a seat at the bar. He finishes his first beer in one long draw and orders another. While he drinks the second beer a little more slowly, he looks up and notices that the State of the Union address is on the TV above the bar.
As he watches the President go on speaking, the guy gets more and more angry, until finally he exclaims, "That Bush is a horse's ass!"
Instantly, the whole bar goes silent. The guy looks around and sees a couple dozen very tough looking cowboys staring coldly back at him. The bartender quickly makes his way over and tells the traveler, "Look buddy, if you wanna walk out of here alive, you'd better not be talkin' like that."
"Guess not," agrees the man, subdued now. "I take it this is Republican country?"
"No, mister," says the bartender. "This here is HORSE country!"
