the chances of debbie sending a routeslip out before the ride(unless yer working a checkpoint...) is about zero.....

+1 I think they specify on their website that they won't provide it until the day of. But if you are lucky enough to score it, please let us know.

Any reason? They just want to make it harder as if 200 miles isn't hard enough?

they specify this for ALL their rides... not just the double centuries... on each and every ride page... it's written in red to not email them asking for the route slip.....

I'm guessing it's to try to avoid confusion, just in case they had to make a last minute route change due to construction, etc.

planet ultra uses the same route every year for their rides with a few exceptions (i.e. having to use decker last year on mulholland because of a race at the bottom of mulholland)....

i know they are strict on sending out the slips or even other information... because before my first ever planet ultra ride... i just wanted to know the mileage of the check in points... and she wouldn't even tell me that info!!!

planet ultra is strict on their rules... but i've ALWAYS found deb to be VERY fair..... i love planet ultra rides (especially when they have rice krispie treats at the rest stops!)

I was just curious about some of the climbs and where in the route they occurred...didn't realize that it was top secret info! :p Would be nice if they at least had that info along with an elevation chart on their website.

I have no desire to ride 200 miles at this point in time if it's not counting toward Triple Crown, and I doubt that anyone (well, besides the nutty ones like...oh...let's say...VIREO...lol) else would either. ;)

If you knew where the hills were you would just worry about them. Ignorance is bliss. :D :D

Just a thought - place a post in the long distance forum and ask if anyone's done the ride and if they can provide details for you. If nothing comes up I have a couple of friends I can put you in touch with who did the ride last year. When I picked my friend up last year (at 11pm) from the ride finish he was able to recount just about every wheel turn of that ride. I think there's something about these guys who do those rides (he averages 5 - 6 doubles each year). Alot of them are engineers. Sort of takes that single focus one track mind I think to do doubles.

Brandy, if you can wait a few days I think I have a route slip from 2 years ago. I'm in Washington, DC right now but I'll be home Saturday night and look for it if you still need it. It's cold here and Friday morning they are calling for a temp. of 19 with wind chill at 3.

The CTC website has elevation charts. Here is the one for Butterfield:
