General Cycling Discussion - anyone ever thought of a bikeforums gathering?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just a thought here guys.....what about a national gathering of this forum(maybe we'll ask the roadies to come along to)haha..just kidding.

But seriously. Have any of us thought about getting our own bikeforums gathering together? I think it'd be sweet, we could all get together, show off our cool bikes, and how much we do or don't know about em. Get a ton of beer and then go for a night ride...LOL (i crack myself up sometimes...lol)

well give me your thoughts guys!!!

There are areas that get together. (I am pretty sure there was one recently in the midwest maybe?). It would be a good and fun idea but getting everyone to a central location...would be tough :)

then we should work on getting little regional gatherings and then eventually we could get a national gathering or mulitple national gatherings together!!

Come on fat old car guys can do it, and they have to toat their cars with them!

It doesn't even have to be a ride all the time thing, find a hotel somewhere and just get a bunch of us to rent rooms, and a cool place to party and we'll be set! Then we could go out for rides... i mean just for a weekend, fly in to someplace, have members pick eachother up from the airport...it'd all work!! I can see it now...aaaahhhhhh. HAHA I'm still cracking myself up...LOL

What about starting in this forum regional forum areas so we could all see what's going on easier, and get to know the guys in our area a bit better? That might help! Just an idea!

:D

Well if it's some regional meetings, you wont have to cross the boarder just go and hang with Maelstrom in B.C. Man whistler would be a great place for a national gathering, granted a bit outa the way for most, but man great place to get together!! Awsome trails, great town, partys all over...what more could you ask for!!! HAHAHAHA.

I'm gonna try and see if anything can be done about regional forums to be created on here. I think it would make life a ton easier for all of us to get some regional stuff going... incuding but not limited to gatherings, trail maintenance, trail closings, trail access meetings, all things of that nature!!!!

We did a meet and greet over at the Tivo Forum...all of us from the left coast that could take the time off drove, flew, biked, to San Jose. We had a great time seeing the faces of people we've only
"met" through the forum. Tivo kicked in some prizes for extra fun. It was an all day event and we had a blast.

Now that I have taken up cycling, my Tivo and the forum have not been used lately. But I try to keep up with some of the members.

A starter would be if some folks would just simply write their general region or state on their profiles. So many don't, and it makes the anonymity of the I-net even more isolating.

I seem to recall there was talk of meeting up in Chicago this summer. Koffee Brown even offered up her place for people to crash. Whatever happened to that idea?

Hey Kev. I like your idea!, Orange County is close to where I live as well, except my bike isn't ready yet :D
Hopefully I'll finish repacking all the bearings today ...

California is one GOOD place to be if you like nature!

Yosemite, Death Valley, Red woods, Ocean side...

Crossing some continent is one of my ultimate biking goals.. Maybe crossing Australia might be safer, traffic wise than North America... Love to see Australia. Our nephew who lives in Singapore, eventually wants to retire to Australia, so I think sooner or later, I will see Australia- along with bike in hand.

We've too many world-wide members to ever meet in one location. One could suggest a simultaneous ride (same time in respective time zones) on, say, several continents - North and South Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand (any Africa members?) but the logistics might boggle the mind, so how about a virtual gathering where we each ride the same day at the same time (again in respective time zones) and post pictures on a common thread devoted to "The Virtual BF Gathering"?

If so, we only need to settle on a date and time.
I'd suggest the anniversary date of the founding of Bike Forums but I've no idea what that would be...
