Introductions - New in Central Florida

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Introducing myself--I'm 29 and just got my first bike. A few friends that I've been running and working out with for the last year have challenged each other to do a sprint triathlon in late May. I've been riding a few weeks and am having a great time.
I'm in central florida (Ocala) and therefore have great riding weather right now. The only problem is my new hobby is getting in the way of work. The other problem is I love gear and equipment, so I want to upgrade my bike faster than I am upgrading the rider.
Thanks!

Santos Trailhead Bike Shop has (or, had) evening road rides, if you want to do some local cycling connecting. Watch out for traffic and the traffic lane reflectors common around there.

I've yet to hit a lane reflector--how bad is it?

 I think we all have that problem.

Like hitting a fair-sized rock. If you're not paying attention, it can wrench the bars out of your hands, sending you sprawling. On a visit to Ocala, I was signaling a left turn, ran into/over one, went down. They aren't used where I live, but I saw them along virtually everywhere I rode in and around Ocala.
