Hey everyone,
My bud and I just got back from the local trail park after a great off-road ride. We only did 4.31 miles, but off-road that's not bad plus it was a pretty rough area, but it was a blast! I didn't take my camera with me though so I didn't get any good pictures to show you guys. I'm looking at a new digital camera, which isn't as good for motion pictures, but they're a lot crisper photos and don't have to be scanned, so they don't lose their quality when being transfered to the computer.
Anyways, how the bikes performed.
I was on the 4100 and my friend (who came in from Texas for the weekend, so he didn't have his own bike) took the YX-2200 out. Beforehand, we had ridden over to the local Starbucks to pick up some ice coffee and water. That was an additional 6.16 miles, but that was an easy on-road route. Onroad, the 4100 obviously excelled as it's lighter weight and not quite as much of a hardcore offroader (though still very competent offroad) as the Yx-2200. The front shocks obviously downed all but the largest of potholes and bumps and provided a very smooth ride onroad for mountain tires.
Offroad, it was more of a rider's game than a bike's game. The YX-2200 was the better overall offroad performer with the double suspension, heavier frame, and slightly more hardcore design and shape. However, I was a better rider than my friend and therefore was ahead of him all the while we were on the trails. That's not to take glory away from the 4100, but it's not as pure an offroader as the YX, I just rode better.
The trails wouldn't be called double black diamond or anything, but definitely aren't for the faint of heart (not to mention leg muscle). I had never actually ridden this park, but I often play disc golf there, so I could remember where most of the trails were and navigated just fine.
So that was my day at the trails, I'm sure it was a snoozer to read, but hey, what can ya do.
