After a long week at work, it was nice to take a 50 mile ride today. I am exhausted though, pretty out of shape. I am sure tomorrow I am going to be feeling the pain of this ride! :roflmao:

I am going to go for a swim, shower the chlorine off, kick back and watch a movie, maybe eat a pizza and drink a beer. What's everyone else up to on this Saturday night?

Well, I did 20 miles in a heavy head wind, and it FELT like 50!! On top of 20 yesterday. Let me know how out of shape I really am. But I console myself with the thought that not a whole lot of guys at age 63 could do what I did (on top of a 2 mile walk this am and some heavy-duty weight lifting this morning).

So, guess I should count my blessings, and I know that if I keep riding I will get in better shape.

So, it is a shower, hot tub, and then fall asleep in front of the telly.

Catching up on some videos I missed out on this week, plus cleaning, plus a long soak in the tub- nothing spectacular at all.

I'm up at 5AM tomorrow morning for a 3 hour ride. It's my nephew's birthday tomorrow, and I will need to spend the rest of the day with him when I finish my volunteer work, so I have to get the ride out of the way early.

I set out today for a 20 to 40 mile ride. Right after I made the turn where I chose the 40 mile route instead of the 20 mile one, I broke a spoke on my rear wheel, so I loosened the back brakes, turned around, and rode gingerly home for a 21 mile ride. Last summer and early fall I was breaking spokes right and left. The mechanic at the bike shop rebuilt the wheel with DT spokes, and it has held up until now. When I had the bike in in January, he checked the wheel, and it was still true. Another guy at the shop thinks the stock wheels on this Trek hybrid (2200) are just not durable enough for the miles I'm putting on it. If I start breaking spokes again, I may have to decide whether to put a better wheel on the bike or use the money for a new bike.

I participated in my first race ever... a 2 mile run 24 mile bike 2 mile run duathlon. i placed 2nd in my age division, and just had a total blast. I am usually a solo rider and runner, so it was so much more fun to have lots of other people to ride and run with. I plan on moving up to triathlon in the near future.

deliriou5: Congrats on your 2nd place finish!

Yesterday Donna and I rode the 30 mile option of the Sweet Onion century down in Vidalia, GA. We had a great ride and finished a couple of clock ticks under 2:25.

Saturday night we just took it easy around the house and sipped on a couple of frozen margaritas.
