Brent Liles killed (http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/homepage/abox/article_1550716.php)
Sad.
Any death is a shame. Not really enough pertinent info in the article to lay blame although I'm sure the armchair advocates are quite prepared to tar and feather the driver.

SD has been rocked by tragedy. I saw them a few years ago.

a tragedy indeed. It's my observation that many drivers no longer feel compelled to stop or even look for people in or entering crosswalks anymore. I've seen women with strollers doing the "Frogger", kids trying to cross signalled crosswalks. Its sad how much emphasis our culture has put on motorized travel at the expense of human scaled transportation.
On a road with 'unsafe' crosswalks in Seattle, the city intends to make the street safer to cross by removing the crosswalks. Yesterday on my ride to work, i saw the new "senior X-ing" signs on the side of the road- AS IF that's going to make the street safer for people to cross the street......SAD commentary on the insistence in the dominance of auto culture.
My condolences to Brent Liles' family, friends and fans. RIP.
