Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Munchen, Deutschland

Does anyone know of any good fixed gear shops in Munich? I will eb there next week and want to get a new bag...something cool...or some parts....something which may he harder to get in the boring ol' states.

I knew of a good place to hang out in Wiesbaden. It's called Lisa's and they have lots of pretty Asian girls.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a fixed gear specific shop in Munich, there is one in Berlin (which is quite a far stretch from Munich). I also doubt that there are any messenger bags available in Germany, which are not available in the United States. Bagjack is the only german manufacturer of messengerbags, that I know of (which does not mean a thing, since I have never been into them).
But you certainly will find messengerbags in Munich, just try some Bikestores and some of the more hip fashion stores.

Edit: Since your are also looking for bike parts. Don't expect to go to a random bike store and find a wide selection of track parts. It is quite possible that you won't find any! 1/8" chains are often the only "track specific" part, a german bike store will stock. Track racing is not popular in Germany, most velodromes have closed down, and the fixed hype hasn't just started yet. Most bike mechanics will have no idea of trackbikes. They might be willing to order Dura Ace or Campagnolo Track stuff for premium prices and that's about it.
To give you an example:
A friend of mine, who is riding a fixed mountainbike went to our favorite LBS, because his lockring was loose and he had not ordered a lockring tool yet. The Mechanic had the right tool but was unable to tighten the lockring, because he kept pulling in the wrong direction! When my friend told him, it was left hand threaded, he could'nt believe it!

Very unlikely that you will find anything. Munich is about the most boring,
mainstream middleclass city you can imagine.
You wont find anything beyond the main big brand bikes.

I was in munich just before christmas. I didn't find any BIKE shops but I did wander in to a big sports store in Karlsplatz. It had an amazing bike section! It blew me away! No track specific stuff, but they stocked pretty much EVERYTHING else. I have never seen such a good bike section in a sports store before. They even had a 4 storey tall climbing wall in the shop and a bunch of trainer bikes hooked up to a computer game. I bought a fancy pearl izumi jacket for 50 euros. I didn't venture outside of the Karlsplatz area as I had less than a day in Munich though. Good luck!

According to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radrennbahn there are more than 30 tracks in Germany (which is a little smaller in size than Montana), compared to 22 according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velodrome#United_States_of_America in the US. Track racing is probably just as (if not more) popular in Germany as in the US. However, riding track bikes on the street is not popular. Therefore, probably only specialty bike shops will carry fixed gear/track bike parts.

They must have gone bankrupt in the past month because the store showed no sign of closing down at all. Man would I like to go to that liquidation sale; They had the entire Gore and Pearl Izumi bike clothing line, and more other high quality bike stuff than I can remember.

the whole group that the department store belongs to went bankrupt a while ago. But such a big thing
doesnt close down so quickly. They had an even bigger store close to the Oktoberfest Area where
you could hop on every bike and take it for a ride in the store! Thats gone now.

They should have put more stuff on sale then. That store was pretty expensive and highly stocked. Crammed with employees too.

I know I really loved that shop (Karstadt Sport). It was a sad sad loss when it closed down:cry::cry: They used to have some great end of season sales and I got my road bike from there.

But to get back to the OP there is no track bike shop in Munich and I have never seen a track bike here apart from fellow BF member Daniel when he was here.

Is the whole chain out of business, or did they just shut down the sports' dept?

It´s just the Sports- I don´t know why they shut down as spent a LOT in there
