You know it!!!!! Plus 20 minute drive sounds ALOT better then ummm 3hr drive LOL
Well, yes. But then the Tour de PS sounds lots easier than a Palomar Century. There is no free lunch. :D
I ended up paying over $200 per night for a two night stay at a hotel I've never been to. But we'll make it into a mini vacation by hitting some local restaurants, hanging out at by the pool, and maybe even tramming up to the snow.
+1 we are heading out Friday morning we should be there in time for noon time lunch
I'm going out for both Friday and Sat night...and will probably be hitting the bars for beer both nights :D Got a room at the Royal Sun which is about 1.5 miles from the start. I signed up for the century, but may switch to the 55 mile route since I have a couple friends riding that one on their mountain bikes. See, that is my master plan to make myself feel really fast - drop the friends on mountain bikes, lol.
Hey didn't we ride together at the burrito century ??

Hey you! It's Scott!
I've been out of the loop a bit with the holidays. Just started riding again two weeks ago. Had a lump on my back removed today so I'll be back in the saddle Thur or so. I'm gonna bypass P.S. and do Solvang March 10th. I'm also shooting for Davis in May for my first Double! Kinda freaked out, but I'll just keep peddling.
Where's Butterfield. i'll Google it.
Anyway hun..... Just sayin Hi!
SD
Hi Scott, I just saw this. I'm glad you're back. :) I wish you'd reconsider PS, but Solvang is a good one too. I'll be headed to San Diego that weekend. Hope to ride again with you soon.

Yup that was me, the burrito century was my first century ride and I'm trying to decide if I want to attempt another one in Palm Springs. But I gotta admit the shorter route and getting to the beer earlier is sounding pretty good right now :p
Extended forcast shows Sunny and 73 degrees for the Tour de Palm Springs..nice!!!

I could not agree with you more! I like doing the century rides, but since this is a vacation I don't want to spend all day in the saddle. This is going to be a very slow paced ride for me.

I would ride with, but like I said this is a vacation. The more time I spend on the less time I spend drinking a cold one by the pool. Are you heading up for the weekend or just for the day ?

I just noticed the 100 mile route has a bailout to create a 65 mile ride. That's what I'm talkin about! I'm going for that option. I'll be sporting the socal jersey as I finally lost enough weight that I feel mostly comfortable wearing it. For those not going for landspeed records, I'll see ya out there.
look forward too meeting you there

We are thinking of that also...
Right now the forecast for Saturday is 80 degrees and cloudy.

 ..At that point, all the hard stuff is over. It's all pancake flat from there. One lil short climb after the rest stop with the lil Big Band!:D...Only about 1/4 mile then ez street.

As I recall..there is a bit more climbing after the bailout (if you stay on the 100 route)...then a nice downhill to the lunch stop...but after that...its all urban city riding..that is the part i dont like!
Is everyone going to wear the SoCal jerseys out there? I know that I am planning on wearing mine.

If I'm driving all the way out there, I'm riding the full 100 miles. I think the whole route is a dump (don't anyone get all twisted...it's just MHO!). I'm going for the BF fun. :D

Yes...I am wearing my BF Socal jersey #3
I 1/2 agree with ME....the first part is sort of nice desert terrain as soon as you get outta town...but the 2nd part is just so so city riding..

Truth be known, it is from a web site where by you can dress the rider with merchandise sold on that site. I had not finished my outfit as yet. I am still in the planning stages.
